3e-3.5 standard house rules/fixes? also vs 5e
Hello all,
I am just getting started here and I have all 3e books. I dont mind using them(especially since their 5e versions would cost $120), but I was wondering, if I learn this way, will I be able to easily adapt to 5e later on? I also hear 3.5e is the popular version. are there some notes i could take to make 3e function as 3.5e or are they too different? Also, what are some standard fixes for 3e. Any additional info would be great.

In my opinion, yes, if you know 3e or 3.5e, then you should have no problems to understand 5e (though there are certainly a lot of differences).
And yes, 3.5e is in basically all ways better than 3e; I highly recommend 3.5e For updating 3e to 3.5e see here: https://archive.wizards.com/default..../dnd/20030718a (I highly recommend the WotC archive, there are a lot of nice gems of source material; but it is heavy to navigate because many buttons lead to "Oops, website does not exist anymore", though there is always some other button leading to the same page and then it works )
However, this update booklet from the link does of course not cover everything. It is better to have the source of 3.5e; the pdfs are all available on DMsguild And a lot of the core rule stuff is SRD, see e.g. here: https://www.d20srd.org/index.htm (so, available for free)My extensions for 3.5e and Pathfinder

Thanks for the patch information.
Yeah, ultimately I want to upgrade and buy newer books, but I know I need/want more than 3 to play from so it is an expense .-.
Cheapest I can find online is $40 per book if they arent a rarer add on and tbh I would rather buy a dry erase game mat and a dm screen.
Are there many people who play this way or would be willing to play patched 3e?

If you are fine with using pdfs instead, then see here: https://www.dmsguild.com/browse.php?...0&src=fid45348 (and sometimes DMsguild can also print the pdfs) Pdfs would be cheaper
I always play with friends, so, I cannot really estimate the number of players, but it is a solid number I think But difficult to say for me, others may have a better answerMy extensions for 3.5e and Pathfinder
