The Bacchanal - A Level 0 - Gauntlet Adventure for Shadowdark RPG
The characters, commoners seeking entry into the local adventurers guild, respond to the guild's call for prospective members. Their applications lead them to participate in the annual "Bacchanal" games, a series of bar games and challenges designed to test their skills and mettle. As they progress through increasingly difficult challenges, they aim to prove their worthiness for guild membership.
A Gauntlet is deadly, with most characters not surviving. Surviving characters graduate to 1st level and become player characters for future adventures. The characters are all level 0 and in possession of nothing at first. Surviving characters will finish the gauntlet with a chosen class, alignment, optional deity, class-appropriate gear, and completed statistics for level 1.
This is not an ordinary dungeon crawl. The adventurers must use their wits to pass the "escape room" challenges!
The adventure was written and adapted for FGU by David Cole.
