Knight Fall

A paladin has fallen. Can you save him?

In Knight Fall, the characters are magically transported into a different dimension. They find themselves in an alternate version of a world similar to Earth, specifically Westphalia, Germany, in 1942, just outside a newly rebuilt castle. Recently the castle has been the site of much research into the occult by the Karotechia arm of the dreaded Nazi Schutzstaffel, and evil has gained a foothold in this realm. The leader of this band, Hauptsturmfuhrer Dieter, has been training a coven of acolytes here for several months in hopes of obtaining occult assistance for the Nazi ideal. He has discovered the tomb of the famed paladin Ferunbras, and has retrieved from the crypts beneath the castle the mystic Portal Gem and the Book of Names. Using these macabre treasures, Dieter recently summoned a Sorcerer whose name he found with in the book: Yurgon. The summoning also dimensionally transported the characters and Yurgon's band of Orcs and Trolls to the castle environs.

Paladin Ferunbras has been sacrificed, and is now a slave of the Portal Gem which is populated by an entity believed to be an aspect of Yog-Sothoth. The corpse of Ferunbras is little more than an emaciated automaton (although exceedingly strong) as the entity controls his body while his soul lies trapped within the gem. This soul-less construct is unable to retrieve his holy sword, Sunderer, which would allow his escape were it used to sunder the gem.
