Stuck on Acquiring File List for hours

Hey,

I'd messages support yesterday to cancel my FGC subscription on Monday so I could swap to FGU after this weekends session... but they went ahead and canceled immediately and was told it was because they were too busy to cancel it later. Frustrating, but just means me and the DM gotta get up early and get everything sorted before todays session...

We've been trying to connect to eachother for two hours now with no luck. Everytime I try to connect to him I get stuck on "Acquiring File List" and my console log gets flooded with "Unexpected command (XXXXX) received on client while downloading." We've tried closing and relaunching the program on both ends, letting it sit for an hour, old campaigns, new campaigns, the example campaign, etc. The same result. I've been reading that the campaigns take longer to load on FGU, but I can't imagine it takes *hours* for each person... We're supposed to start our campaign in 2 minutes and still have 4 others to try and get connected.

This is from the most recent attempt. Sometimes it spams the Unknown Command line hundreds of times in a minute, alternating between 3-4 different commands. This time it only did it a few times with one command.

Steps to reproduce the error

Simply attempt to connect to the DM via the lobby

If related to updating, please include relevant section of the "FantasyGroundsUpdater.log" file found in your FG installation directory.

It isnt.

Any relevant information from the "console.log" file found in your FG Data directory.

Operating system (Mac OS 10.15, Windows 10, etc)

Windows 10

Language or Region Settings (see post #4)

English. Host is in Scotland along with 3 of the players. Myself and my wife are in America. Not sure if this is what you needed as I'm not sure what "post #4" is referring too.

Ruleset(s) you are experiencing the issue(s) in.

Is this a newly FGU created campaign or one migrated from FGC?

The console log and majority of attempts have been made on a custom campaign. We spent about an hour trying to connect to the example campaign provided with the program to see if it was out campaign... Same issue connecting.

What modules do you have loaded? Are any of these DLC from sources other than the FGU updater? (i.e. manually migrated or 3rd party content)

Below is what the DM has loaded on his end. None of the players have been able to connect to choose what to load and not to load.

Been trying to connect on a single attempt since I posted this thread. The above is the console.log as its grown since.

Been about 5 minutes since its last update. Still trying.

This appears to be a prevailing issue at the moment. Not sure what solution there might be at the moment.

For reference, the reference to post #4 was in that How to Report thread. Its just more info about language and region settings in the operating system as we are also sometimes seeing issues with folks who are not using the English-US or English-UK settings. I don't think this issue is related to that though.

That's a lot of stuff the GM has loaded, and a lot of it is going to duplicate itself (i.e. the Basic Rules and SRD sources are just subsets of the PHB, MM, and DMGs so should not be loaded if the others are.

And, not that I think it should matter, but I would ask the GM to start a new campaign and try to keep things as simple as possible to start;
- load nothing
- use no special characters in the campaign name or their username or password etc.
- try both public and private hosting, with and without passwords
- Reboot? Computers and modem/routers
Also see if you can get the console.log file from the GM and post that as well.

Hopefully it works. And though I mentioned it above, double check no special characters, even things that are normal in non-English languages. I don't think its an issue, but lets try to make it as straightforward and fail-safe as possible. Good luck.

This happened to my group as well. Half of the group had logged on the previous week through the game lobby. The rest of us tried to log on the next week just with the ip address and could not. The DM set it to public and we chose it from the list and it worked. Not sure if it’s a coincidence or a bug when first joining a new campaign.
