I tried playing with friends today, and we had a lot of trouble connecting.

Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. When they tried again, it would sometimes work, sometimes not. One of the players got disconnected during the game, and could never get back to it. In the middle of the game session, I told everyone to quit and update the client again (There was a bug fix released during the game session), and after that half of my players could never get back into the game, while some did after a few tries. They sent me so many error reports, and they were all different and inconsistent. Sometimes my players could not even find my game on the lobby.

I'm using fiber connection, I don't know my router model but it's provided by my ISP I'd have to look the info up, no additional routers and I'm not using wi-fi to connect to the router, and no VPNs.

This was an error by one of my players:

I've had exactly the same problem today. This is our first attempt at using FGU so assumed we were doing something wrong. One player connects perfectly as you can see but the other cannot connect, it's happened a few times with a specfic player not connecting but the other one is ok:

Found a fix for "attempting resolved connection to server", at least for my player. For some reason using a password on a cloud server caused them not to connect, removing the password fixed the problem. I hope this helps some of you.

I'm having this error and there is no password involved.

I'm trying to connect two demo machines (host and player) to test out some things before I commit to buying. Things are not going well.

Demo can not host. In order to host the hosting machine at least has to have a Standard license. Get a subscription and it it doesn't work out ask for a refund within 30 days. Do NOT cancel your subscription until you ask for your refund, cancelling your refund will initiate an immediate termination of your license that will require manual intervention to resolve.

We are all from Italy (if this info can help you in some way) and I have an Ultimate license while the players are all demo players.
When you are saying that Demo can only FGC but not FGU do you mean they can't even entry a game hosted by an Ultimate?

    Marco.

I've identified another possible issue. Let's say the GM hosts the campain on LAN Server Type mode. There is an internal IP and an external IP. When player on the same subnet tries to connect to the external IP, it doesn't work, even if port forwarding is set on the router. Player's client stuck in "Attempting direct connection to server [external IPort]", and GM's console shows "Client connected. Waiting for authorization. [1]". When the player on the same subnet tries to connect to the internal IP, it works properly. When a player from the internet (not on the same subnet) tries to connect to the external IP, it works properly as well.

My findings: Client (player) on the same subnet like server (GM) HAS TO connect to internal IP, not external IP, if the campaign is hosted on LAN Server Type.

Yep, this has nothing to do with FG, most routers do not allow traffic originating inside a subnet to access another device on that subnet using an external IP address.

Disabled antivirus, network is private, tried cloud lobby, private, password, no password.
I asked him to do "tracert connect.noblewhale.com" and after 4th or 5th position he kept getting "request timed out". Maybe that will help pinpoint the issue. I can ask him to repeat this command and provide you with saved log if needed.
