Can't get home made magic item to function
I'm trying to get this magical shield to grant the player these bonuses but I can't get it to work. Could someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Hi Lurioso, welcome to FG.
You can't automate such things on an item. You can create an effect in the actions tab STR: 1, CON: 1, CHA: 1.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction! I've created the effect and after setting the target to Self and the duration to 0 (thinking this will set duration to infinity) it now looks like this: STR: 1, CON: 1, CHA: 1;[SELF]
When I activate the effect I can see the effect attached to the character in the CT but it does nothing for the characters abillity scores or any checks related to the abillity. Am I still doing it wrong?

Effects don't change the ability on the character sheet. They apply when an action (usually a dice roll) that is impacted by the effect is carried out. If you're doing an ability check, this should apply - but remember that changing an ability by 1 will only change the ability bonus if it changes to an even number. For example: adding a STR: 1 effect to a strength of 10 doesn't give a change in the bonus, but you should still see [EFFECTS] shown in the chat window as part of the roll, even though the net result of the effect is 0.

No, you are doing it correctly. The character sheet will not update due to effects on the Combat Tracker, but any actions done from the character sheet will be handled correctly. Test it by setting your Strength to 13 and seeing if the attack gets +1 more than it otherwise would. Note that if you wish hitpoints to change due to the increased con, I don't think it will.

An effect doesn’t change the actual ability scores, but the bonus is taken into account when a roll is made which is dependant on that ability; such as an attack roll, skill check or saving throw. The barbarian in question has a STR of 17 (Giving him a +5 Strength save after you included the prof. bonus). This SHOULD increase to a save of +6 if I'm not mistaken but it does nothing. I must be doing something wrong but I've followed the instructions so I can't figure it out.
EDIT: I made the mistake to put , insted of ; ...

See what Zacchaeus said regarding using semi-colons ; not commas (,) to separate multiple effects.
