    Can FG play videos?

Hello, can Fantasy Grounds play videos or use videos just like it uses images?

I'm asking because of the new Dynamic Dungeons Patreon (https://www.patreon.com/dynamicdungeons/memberships)
I'm using Fantasy Grounds as a "projector" (not for online use, but with the team I meet in person):
I currently have it setup so that I open up 2 Fantasy grounds in the same computer but 2 different screens, 1 screen as the DM so I can use maps and fog of war and the other screen (a TV laying flat on the table) as the Player version to use as a battle mat.

I'm interested in getting the dynamic dungeons, but would like to keep my FG setup, hence the initial question

    Thanks!

No. FG can't currently play video files.

Not directly - however, with the use of the DOE: OLE Extension you can trigger a video to play in a 3rd party app (such as VLC) from within FG, provided the 3rd party video app can be controlled via a URL (such as VLC can).

Not directly what you asked, but it may give you some ideas to acheive what you want.

I’ve backed the dynamic dungeons patron. Just play the video and display it on the TV screen. You won’t get tokens - but are you using minis instead?

You also won’t get fog of war. But, from what I’ve seen of the maps so far, there's not much need for that.
Private Messages: My inbox is forever filling up with PMs. Please don't send me PMs unless they are actually private/personal messages. General FG questions should be asked in the forums - don't be afraid, the FG community don't bite and you're giving everyone the chance to respond and learn!

For fog of war on videos, check out the Dynamic Maps Game Engine here:
    https://dmge.net/

Dooley's Patreon for it is here:

You can give it a file (works well with files from Dynamic Dungeons, which I also back) or a YouTube URL. It's pretty basic and a little buggy, but it does fog of war already with a nice configurable "brush" with a feathered edge. One problem with the FoW implementation is you can't see the video while you're brushing the fog around, so you kind of have to start blind. You'd need to have another copy of the video open for reference, or disable FoW, or something else that risks revealing the map briefly to players, at least to start. Also, it's only for local play. There's currently no way to have other clients (remote players) sync up and see the same thing you're seeing. I'm hoping it gets developed more.

YouTube has some animated map videos, like these that you can feed into the DMGE:

Yup, i'm using my TV flat, and have a glass covering the TV so I can use my minis and roll dice, though I love the fog of war, helps loads with the players not metagaming.
    thanks for your advice! =)

    Glad I could help!

I’m building a gaming table with a TV built into it. I’m planning on surprising my players with the animated maps when I (finally) unveil the table. Can’t wait! Currently the table is a pile of lumber in my garage...
