Ultimate license holder looking to buy player account

I have an ultimate account and am considering buying one or two player accounts so I can dm at the table online on my new laptop with my two kids on other laptops. Do I buy these through my account or I have to set up other accounts/usernames to do this? I tried to install a demo on an old laptop I used to run Fantasy Grounds and it just kept on updating to show my ultimate account. I cleared my username and details of my license but this did not help. FG had been uninstalled about a year ago. I cannot figure out how to install a clean demo onto the laptop. I had thought I could buy one player account and use a demo for my other child. Now it's looking like two player accounts I guess.

I'm confused what you're trying to do...

Your Ultimate License will allow you to GM with a full table of Demo or Standard license players. Each of your kids can use a Demo license and connect to your server.
Is there some reason you need a Standard license in the mix there?

You should just be able to remove your license key from the FG settings window and then run an update. You need to run the update after removing the license key, so that it reverts from Ultimate to Demo.

    Thanks for the answers.

I appreciate it but I had run the update after deleting the license key but it still updated all my books connected to my ultimate account. I even uninstalled FG on that older laptop and it still didn't work. I'll try it again tomorrow.

Yes, it will update your books - as those are related to your account. Your account is not "ultimate", it's the license key you put in the "License Key" field at the top of the settings window that determines what flavour of FG your installation is.

I've just tested this on my Ultimate installation:
    1. Start my Ultimate installation of Fantasy Grounds. Note it says "v3.3.0 ULTIMATE" in the top right corner of the startup screen.
    2. On the main startup screen click the "Settings" button.
    3. Highlight and completely remove the license key from the "License Key" field. Don't make any other changes on this screen - just remove the license key.
    4. Click "OK"
    5. Click "Update" in the Updater window.
    6. I now have an installation that says "v3.3.0 FREE" in the top right corner of the splash screen. This indicates that the installation is the free/demo license.

So, I have taken on board everything and have gotten closer to this working.

I have the demo license "v.3.3.0 FREE" showing on top right of FG screen on a player's laptop sitting here in front of me.

I have confirmed on my DM laptop a successful connection test for FG.

I have cleared the "player data cache" on the demo version.

I then connected to FG on dm laptop and got that open to the relevant campaign.

I then on the player laptop entered the alias connection which fails and says "could not connect to the host. Check your network settings and verify host address."

I then tried the internal address in the host address which failed.

I then tried the external address (which I guess is irrelevant if the player laptop is here in the same room in my house. This failed.

If I had to forward port 1802 on the dm laptop, do I need to do this for player laptops? I thought this is only for the dm computer.

I would be very grateful for any assistance offered.

Glad you got the right license showing.

You don't need to port forward the players laptops. They should be able to connect using the internal IP address of the GMs computer.

Please try typing this in a command prompt: ping <GMs IP address> Substitute <GMs IP address> with the internal IP address in the form ww.xx.yy.zz, for example, mine is 192.168.55.100. Let us know the results of this "ping" test.

I got it working. It took a while but I finally found I had a comma rather than a period in the internal address. Damn tiny font on this laptop!

Sorry for the questions, but it did get me right up to where the internal address then resolved it.

    Great assistance guys!!!

Great news, glad to hear you got it working Kevin, and even happier to hear that your kids will be joining our beloved hobby, out of curiosity, what game system are you starting them on?
