My general understanding is the same as yours, but I wish to be sure, so I do not end making a mistake.
About the tokens, I am planning to create a generic set, very simple because I am not an artist, probably just a coin-like shape with symbols or names written to include on my modules.
I would be very interest in build a whole, free collection of tokens and small maps, with nice art, to share with FG content creators, so they could include the tokens in their products too - something like a “Fantasy Grounds Content Creator Art Database” – in short, FG-CCA Database, much like what CSUAC was for Dundjinni (lol).
People would be free to use this database freely to create FG content only, and commercial products would need to be sold only on FG Store, so we would be able to support further the development of Fantasy Grounds.
However, despite being able to do some things on Photoshop, I will not be able to draw the creature portraits to be included there so, for now, just generic coin-like images will need to suffice.

Distributing is different from selling. AAW has an agreement directly with SW. A random person that hasn't entered into an agreement 'may' not be allowed to profit off of FG-formatted files. Or they may; depends on what SW says. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that free distribution is acceptable by selling isn't.
The DMsG provides stock art that could be used. I'm not sure how robust the selection is or if you are allowed to crop the images (to make tokens). But there is a chance of this working out. And if not, people can make generic royalty-free stock art (like the PF paper minis art; simple but effective) for others to use in DMsG products. I don't remember if you can sell stock art directly on the DMsG, but you can just sell it campaign-agnostic on the sister site DriveThruRPG. Something for our FG artist to do to make some extra money and fill the gap.
This most likely won't happen. WotC set up the DMsG to be the only place normal people can sell 5e material. They use it to search for talent and writers for official WotC stuff. If they let SW allow normal people to produce 5e material it probably wouldn't allow non-SRD material and would require WotC to monitor two sites for writers. One of the major reasons WotC uses OneBookShelf (the company that hosts the DMsG) is because of the rating system. FG's Store doesn't have that and I doubt SW wants to restructure the store for feedback.I never claimed to be sane. Besides, it's more fun this way.

Nickademus is correct. We have an agreement in place with AAW and with a few other people that allow them to sell and distribute content. We provide them reports and royalties for stuff that sells through our storefront and they provide us payment for stuff that sells through their outlets. They are able to use our trademarks and logos on their products as part of this agreement.

Regarding DM's Guild... please stay tuned. I hope to have something finalized on this very, very soon.

As long as it is your own unique creation and you aren't using our trademarks or logos, then you can distribute them. When people ask us for permission to use our name and logos, we often grant it as well.

So this means that a .mod file with the xml formatted in a way that FG could use is completely in the open? It's only the use of the name 'Fantasy Grounds' on the product that is not allowed?
