Have you ever been creating an adventure for your crew and working through all the pieces and parts to present to your players and you get to the Locations creation for the subsector they will be hanging around in during the adventure and thought, "ugghhhh"?
Tired of the slog of hand-transcribing data from TravellerMap into new Locations records?
Then, this is the tool for you.
1) Create a blank Locations Record and place #UWP# in the top field
2) Open the UWP Import tool by pressing the nifty button that looks like a familiar planet in the upper right corner (for most of us anyway)
3) Enter the Sector Name (e.g., Spinward Marches)
4) Enter the Hex number of the world from TravellerMap.com (e.g., 1529)
5) Press Retrieve
6) Breath a sigh of relief
7) Goto #1
**NOTE: Some of the data on TravellerMap.com sometimes does not match what the Mongoose Traveller 2e Ruleset has in it for things like Trade Codes and Bases or the various adventures you may be using for reference. If you plan to use the systems you import in a Campaign, please be sure you check the info you import so no one gets confused.

FIXED in Version 1.25: There are a couple of quirks with the data after it gets entered into the form when you start tabbing down through the form. Obviously, you need to tab into, at least, the Sector field so the form will populate the text next to all the individual UWP fields. This is when you will see Hex Location and, probably, Bases get erased. I suggest using your mouse to click on those fields and re-enter that data by hand. I didn't have any issues as long as I did that.

Update to change how the UWP is populated on the form so the individual fields are filled in and not the UWP field at the top so as not to interfere with how that field gets auto-populated by the ruleset.

This is now listed on the Forge (see first post for link).
Let me know if there is anything else the Extension could do or if something is not working.
Some other information is in the JSON data, like the codes for Economics and Culture, that could be thrown into the Notes tab. If that is something you are interested in, let me know. If I knew what all the codes meant, I could probably iterate that info onto the notes tab as well, but I am unsure of the source from which it is derived, so I have no reference for all the possible codes.
Enjoy

I submitted a new build this evening that should eliminate the weirdness I was seeing with data getting dropped when you started tabbing through the fields. The update was to change how the UWP is populated on the form so the individual fields are filled in and not the UWP field at the top so as not to interfere with how the ruleset auto-populates that field.

Would like to see the extra information placed into the notes tab.
Traveller map uses the Traveller 5 rule system the codes are in Book 3 of the T5 core rules.
Thanks for the very handy tool.

Since that information is included in the JSON data, I will start the process of incorporating that information onto the Notes tab.

I have uploaded the build to the Forge, which adds this functionality. I did it so the data gets formatted as three tables of info. I added a new image (if the images ever update) to the store so you can see what it will look like. If that takes too much space on the Notes tab, let me know, and I can change how it gets formatted to remove the tables.

You need to press the GET button on that page and then do an update for Fantasy Grounds to download it. Pushing GET links it to your account, so if I update it, it will automatically get updated when you update FGU.

Hello! I think I may have encountered an issue with this extension. When using this extension, trying to open the notes tab of a pc ship causes an error message to appear. additionally, the lines where one would write notes are blank. Disabling the extension does not seem to help - the error still shows up and the lines one would write on do not appear. However, a fresh campaign without this extension works just fine (notes display as the should and no errors appear).

I think you may have the wrong extension. The UWP Import tool has nothing to do with the Ship Note tab, and if you are disabling the extension and still seeing errors, then something else is going on unrelated to my extension.
1) I created a test campaign as you described with my extension loaded and was able to reproduce the error.
HOWEVER...
2) I opened a brand new test campaign with no extensions loaded and was still able to reproduce the error you described:
https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=63302&d=1733273156
So, as I said, I believe this is a ruleset bug and not an issue with my extension. It does not interact with any other forms in the ruleset and only inserts data into the db.xml for Star Systems.

You are entirely correct. I was too hasty and assumed that it must be an extension issue (this is the only one I use currently). I also tested further and reproduced the error in a fresh campaign with no other extensions. I will make this report elsewhere! Thanks for your help :)

No problem. This sounds like an existing bug and will likely get looked at and fixed by the FGU folks.

Hello, I had a question about this extension. Today I was using the UWP import tool to fill out parts of the Trojan Reach (namely the Dpres subsector). I followed the instructions provided and the tool seems to be working fine. However, I noticed that sometimes the world data records created include the corresponding text of the UWP (For example, that atmosphere 7 corresponds to standard, tainted atmosphere, or government type 2 is participatory democracy). However, sometimes the data that is imported only includes the numbers - the aforementioned example would only list 7 and 2 in the relevant sections of the UWP with no additional info. This is not a problem in of itself (once I learn to read the UWP anyway) but I was wondering why this is occurring. Does it have something to do with how much or how little info is provided on the traveller wiki? 63444

The data you are referring to next to each one of those entries is populated from the ruleset. I cannot explain why it populated for one system and not the other. I tested it on my end and when I imported the Dpres system like you did, it the text values next to the entries populated for me.

Okay after some fiddling around, I have figured out what is making this happen. If I import the UWP while the blank system record titled #UWP# is open (I am looking at it), everything works as it should. The record populates before my eyes and all the data that should be there appears. However, if I close the blank record title #UWP# and then import, the text description of each of the UWP items does not appear as in the image I sent before. Additionally, when viewing the now populated system data record in unlocked form, the UWP at the top is left blank

I'm trying to get this to work. I have it "owned" from the Forge. I have done all the updates (I do that every time I start up FGU). But I'm not seeing how to get this to work. It's not appearing in the list of extensions for the campaign, nor in the module activation area. What am I doing wrong?

When you select your Campaign, you would select "Feature: UWP Web Import Tool"
https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=65784&d=1733273156
The button in the upper right corner looks like this:

I also updated the first post with this information.

Thanks Stargrove. I was NOT seeing the extension in the list. However, just did another update, which included the updater and FGU update, and there it was. Activated that extension (Feature), and now the icon appears on the list. Tried it out and works perfectly. Thanks!

If you hadn't yet noticed, the Systems button on the menu is now gone.
https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=66024&d=1733273156
The FGU team quietly replaced Systems with Locations this week and now this extension is not working properly. I will get an update out ASAP. Thank you for your patience.
All the Systems you created or imported yourself into your own Campaigns should get migrated.

I think I have stumbled across a bit of an issue. Accessing records made before systems were changed to locations results in an error message. This does not happen with new location records created after the change.

This is not something specific to the Extension and is more related to the changes to the Ruleset. Please repost this issue in the bug report thread and superteddy57 can probably help get this resolved for you.
