RESOLVED: Please don't waste troubleshooting time on this. Thank you for reading.
(Issue was , from what I could tell, I believe Windows 11 update on my laptop reset the firewall settings. I reset them and then it worked. I assume that was it since I didn't do anything else significant).
I have two accounts my "real one" that has all my purchases tied to it (and its quite a lot these days) -- this account is also Ultimate license. Then I have a free license that I sign in on a 2nd computer and its strictly for testing to see a players perspective of things.
Both FGU copies are updated to 4.3.0 .
Never had issues with the free client connecting to the ultimate one, and I've had this arrangement for years now.
I verified the password three times and my GM name, Ultimate is set for Cloud / Public.
No network issues on my network both computers can ping each other, and the external IP of the ultimate FGU host is pingable by the FGU free account.
I sign in on the free account it looks normal saying Attempting resolved connection to (IP info)... but after 25 minutes (actual minutes also not its really 2 minutes and I'm just saying its 25 to be dramatic)..its still trying, it doesn't even kick out to ask for the password if I set a purposely bad password on it.
Questions
1. At some point in the past when I'm taking the 2nd computer with me I switched it to the ultimate account, then I switched it back to the free one. I notice when I update the free one it says 'found 19 purchases" --- so I've NEVER not even one time bought a single purchase on the free account. Is it possible remnants from when I had it using the Ultimate account are lingering and that could be causing the issue?
2. Related to question 1 -- is there a way to reset the client (assuming there's config files stored locally on my machine) ? I don't know if there's some .ini type file or similar that holds any purchase data info.
(or do you think if I just uninstall FGU entirely, reboot and just re install fresh copy of FGU might help?)
Thanks.
Luckily my game isn't until Friday, but I hope I get this fixed by Thursday to not rush things...
