View Full Version : Update error pulling down 4.1.5 on Intel MacBookPro

Just letting the updater do its thing, I see it download and attempt to process the 4.1.4->4.1.5 update, but I get two "Unable to save file" errors during the process (will attach a screenshot and attempt to transcribe, below). The application *appears* to run fine afterward, but it does go through the full update download/apply any time you run a subsequent update. So I presume it knows that *something* is still amiss ;)
Errors:
HandleFile: Unable to save file (FantasyGrounds.app/Contents/Resources/MainMenu.nib/designable.nib)
HandleFile: Unable to save file (FantasyGrounds.app/Contents/Resources/MainMenu.nib/keyedobjects.nib)

The update, to my knowledge, was related to the text highlighting and the inability to roll damage on NPC sheets.

It doesn't give much away.

No, the hot fix today was for the client only; not the updater. This issue is still being looked at for an updater fix.

I saw the same message during the update. Game seems to run fine although i haven't run a live session with it, just prep.

Just a heads up that MacOS 10.13+ is required for FGU.
The update errors are still being looked at.

Thank you. I noticed when I was looking around after having problems yesterday. I've been running FGU since the beginning of the year with no issues so I just went for it. :D

My Fantasy Grounds worked correctly on Tuesday, Aug 24.
Last night, August 31, it did not.
I think I'm having this thread's same issue on my iMac. 10.12.6 OS Sierra; 3.2 GHz Intel Core i3.
When I download the webinstaller, it tells me it has 19 updates, but then when I click "launch Fantasy Grounds," nothing happens, and no Fantasy Grounds is in my applications folder. So then I went to the old Mac portion of the FGU site and downloaded the version for older Macs (10.14 or earlier). After downloading, I open Fantasy Grounds. I get a screen that says that "Verifying Fantasy Grounds," and the status bar hangs/sticks at about the 5/8ths mark.
I've tried on/off, delete all and repeat, that sort of thing. Same result.
I've tried to run Fantasy Grounds with a sudo command from the terminal. Same result.
A video of the problem is linked below. It's 11 minutes long and shows all the steps I took plus a look at the log. I've also linked a picture of the "About This Mac" window.
Thanks for any help!!

I've had the same update error on all my Macs for a few weeks now. I'm not having any issues GMing. I did delete and try a reinstall on my 13" MBP but the issue was not resolved.

@Gunboat,
Mac OS v10.12.x is not a supported version of Mac for FG Unity; and never has been according to our system requirements provided during Kickstarter and release. The latest build will not run on v10.12.x at all and that version of Mac OS is past end-of-life by Apple for 2 years. I highly recommend you update your Mac to v10.13.x. (Apple is aggressive in changing OS behaviors in ways that force updates for both developers and users.)
@Ulric,
With the Forge settling down, @smelton finally got a chance to look at this deeper. It appears that Unity and/or Mac changed MainMenu.nib from a file to a folder in the latest build tools. We'll have a fix soon in a newer version of the updater that can handle this case.

Did you ensure that Xcode's target build settings has "Flatten Compiled XIB Files" set to "Yes"?

Our developer is working on several changes to the updater; so the fix will be coming in the next couple weeks. Other than the error message, we have not seen any reports of this blocking usage.

Does this problem prevent Mac users to update FGU?
Thanks

I still get the "Unable to save files" I've been getting in the past couple of months.
Should I update/change something manually?

Ok, I just went into "Settings" > "Troubleshoot" in the Updater app, and the used "Force App update" option.
This seems to have updated the Updater itself and fixed the problem.
Thanks
