Where do I find the download link?
There isn't one. You can switch your FG to the test channel. This will copy your campaign to a test version of FG. You should not plan on being able to move your campaign back and forth, at least not without things breaking (hence why it's in the test channel).

Thanks! I have the extension available for inserting back in if I have a need, otherwise I will just wait till they get it installed in late July.

That was the original intent, but it ended up removing selections that were duplicates (in all ways including data) and that caused some confusion. (I have this module loaded and 'race/class X' is not included) I am looking at remaking that but try to give the user more feedback on the filtered duplicates.
Something that I noticed when I was trying to create a Drow character was that depending on which of the multiple Drow buttons I clicked on (from different source books), it would apply different racial bonuses. One would provide just the Drow bonus, another would provide the Elf and Drow bonus, etc.

I saw a release note saying the Character Wizard is included in 5E automatically now. I downloaded the latest updates, how exactly do you access the Character Wizard?

Just load a campaign, click on the "Character" tab, then click on the blue star on the bottom of the character window that pops up.

Like Orsalak, I was looking for this and excited to poke at the Character Wizard. But it's not showing up for me.
Then I realized ... I'm in FGC, I haven't tried out FGU yet. (I supported the Kickstarter but have been waiting for it to get past Beta before I migrate my campaigns.) I suppose it's only available for FGU? Any plans to implement it in FGC? (No, I didn't think so....)

I've been creating a hill dwarf forge cleric for a new campaign we'll do in FGU, and I thought why not have a peek at the character creation wizard discussed briefly in today's Kickstarter update #32. (You get to it via the PC button; there's a star in the bottom border of the window. I had to hunt for it.)
I mostly write here to report two bugs I think I've found in the wizard's execution.
First: you can choose a racial bonus for Dwarf (+2 Con) or Hill Dwarf (+1 Wis), but it's either or. Hill Dwarf ought to include the Con bonus given to all Dwarves. At present it doesn't. I fear this may be true for more subrace-race categories than the one I checked.
Second: you can pick a Dwarf tool proficiency among the three provided, but Forge Cleric at level 1 ought to give you one of these separately (smith's tools), and I found no evidence that it does this.
(I could write with more requests for character-wizard features - if not "here's what this gives you" text for every choice, at least links everywhere to your reference library pages for race, subrace, class, etc., etc,, to aid in looking for fine details. Bundles for equipment given you by your choices, so you're not looking down lists of armor and weapons for items you've probably had to go research and list elsewhere before using this wizard. But I'll be happy to start with a tool that works.)

It's part of the 5e ruleset so it's in both FGC and in Unity. However it is only in the test channel at the moment - not live. So if you want to see it you'll need to switch to test (You so that in settings)

Ohhhhh. I interpreted today's FGU project update bulletin as meaning it was live. I think the wording was vague.
Thanks for clarifying!

Nope, i found it activated tonight, and im on the live build.
It works, but gives a few Errors in the log, as to be expected.

Wizards Ghost, are you using FGU or FGC? I've updated my FGC, and I'm still not seeing the Character Wizard.

Yes it is live in FGU but test in Classic which the original poster was asking about.

That will be fixed in the next test update. I fixed it for the last test update but I missed including it in that update. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Your start of this thread states that the Character Wizard will be implemented in upgrade 3.3.11. Is that this upcoming update on Tuesday, since we are now at 3.3.10?

could you also add the functionality of removing proficiencies as options are chosen. for example if someone chooses proficiencies from their race or class the options get removed as choices later on.

Is the screen supposed to be shared? or can it be shared. I have a player connected and was going to walk them through creating a character. If I open the wizard, they don't see it, if they open it I don't see it. Is this as intended? or did I miss a memo? I have a bunch of NEW players that need guidance.
Thanks

FG does not share the screen. It shares the environment. The only thing that gets visually shared are images, and that is only once, each player can move/zoom/close a shared image window once shared and the GM can not control what others see.
I would use Discord if you want to screen share what someone is looking at in FG.

I have some feedback from a session 0 I ran the other night. This was the first time using the character wizard. It was the first FG experience for the players. I'm not far ahead of them.
Some of the feedback below can be chalked up to the lack of Fantasy Grounds experience by the DM (me) and the players. The players have played D&D 5e before and more or less knew what they wanted. Based on my inexperience, I didn't always remember or know how to get them there.
- Rogue build: had a hard time finding thieves' tools, the disguise kit, and thieves' cant. Took a while to find the Half-elf Variant, was expecting it to be selected *after* choose Half-elf. Also had difficulty finding how to do Expertise. (I later found/remembered doubling the proficiency by clicking more.)
- Warlock build: wanted to be a Pirate but could not add it because of a Proficiency conflict, could not find Trinket in the equipment/gear list. For Pirate, ended up choosing a different archetype and then coming back to change it to Pirate in the character sheet. However, we also had to figure out you couldn't just type/auto-complete "Pirate" in that field, but had to drag it from the sourcebook. Would have been nice to have a list of archetypes across all currently-open sourcebooks rather than having to hunt for it.
- Barbarian build: had trouble finding breath weapon and Barbarian rage.
- No "are you sure?" warning before closing a character that was in progress resulted in two lost characters that had to be rebuilt. Too easy to close the window with the close box (X) or the radial menu.
- Would like to have a way to save a character in progress. Auto-save preferred (I notice even the forums here do that). (Would this make the in-progress character available for the DM to review?)
- On the plus side, since we used dice rolls for ability scores, having them in the chat history helped immensely when having to re-build a character from a window that was closed.
- Would like to be able to have the player share progress with the DM for review/questions, without screen sharing in something like Discord.
- Would be helpful for the DM and players to be able to return to the character wizard to modify or update a character, instead of using the character sheet.
- Would like to have a way to save/print/export a character sheet for players to review between sessions. This might ease the transition for those used to DNDBeyond, where players are used to being able to access their PC at any time.
- Would like to be able to set some table-wide rules, like how (which method to use) to generate ability scores. Or at least initial defaults, like choosing "point buy."
Thanks, I hope this feedback helps.

It absolutely does. Thank you.
You're right about the close/save confirmation. I'll put that on the list of needed features. As far as saving data from build to build, that will be the next step in the development. We're going to add the ability to load in a character to 'level up' as a part of that you will be able to 'save off' an incomplete character and load it back in.

I tried out the character builder with a quick Half-Orc Barbarian build at level 1. The links for traits relentless endurance and savage attacks go to the overall Half-Orc race entry, not the individual traits subpage.
Edit: This is with the paid wizards content loaded, not the SRD.

FG_Wraith, I was choosing the Ranger class. It also happened again today when I chose the Barbarian class.
Another odd thing I noticed today when the builder finished my character sheet (pressed save). When I clicked on the Traits "Savage Attack" and "Relentless Endurance" in the Abilities tab, it was populated with the entire Barbarian class page instead.

If I wanted to write an extension to modify the order of the tabs in the character wizard, where should I start looking for how to change that? I unpacked the extension version of the wizard and was unable to identify the correct part of that package. I've got a lot of learning to do about how to write extensions, but any help you could provide would be appreciated!

record_charwizard.xml has the layout for the main page, and the controls are charwizard_[x]tab where x is the name of the page it brings up (i.e. charwizard_racetab is the button for bringing up the race page.) You just need to change the offset value for each of the controls to rearrange them to where you wish them to be.

Tried out the character wizard today and made a low level human wizard. There were no spell slots on my sheet, so I couldn't cast anything other than cantrips when in action mode. I made sure they were prepared. I could add the spell slots myself but it would be nice for new players if it just applied the slots correctly. I see where they show up in the creation wizard. This might already be a known bug. If so, sorry for the duplicate. I don't run any extensions other than the languages.
