Super high ping whenever anyone is connecting to my FG?

I use a D7000 Nighthawk router/modem that I direct connect to via Ethernet cable and my ping goes up into the 3000+ And kicks everyone off the internet whenever a player joins my session. This problem started in the past 6 months with no changes on my end that I'm aware of network or hardware wise. Any ideas?

silames7 when players first connect to the session they have to download any changed content
If you have several licensed products that have changed in the interim between games or if a player has flushed their cache there could be several hundred mbs x # players being uploaded on your link.
This is quite possibly saturating your link for 5/10/15mins or even more.
