LFP Planescape Adventures in the Multiverse

    Game System: D&D 5E 2024

    Time Zone: Central US Time
Day of week and time: Wednesdays 1pm CST/CDT to 5pm CST/CDT.
    Ongoing game.
Planned Duration & Frequency: Weekly forever. (we'll move on to other official WotC adventures when we finish this one)
    Term: Long term

    Text or Voice: Voice
    Main Language used: English
    Voice software used: Discord
Will this be recorded and/or live streamed? No.

Roleplay & Combat mix: 50/50 (essentially official published WotC modules)
Number of Players in game & needed: We have 4 players but we usually have one or two drop out every week, so we are looking for 1-2 players to shore up.
Character starting level & equipment: 5th level using DMG starting gear, money, and items.
Character restrictions: Only official content (see rules in 2024 for using older official content).

Details of your scenario: We have all the rulebooks (old and new). Looking for a few players as life gets in the way and we usually have 1 or 2 people that drop out per week. The way we handle someone that can't show up, is their character is essentially ignored and not used. Sometimes there's an in game reason. Like the current campaign is about multiverse glitches so they just wink out of existence until they show up again. We play Rules as Written, but are flexible to group dynamics. 50% roleplaying and 50% mechanics. If you want to make a skill roll you have to give a reason in roleplaying to do it. For instance if you say "I want to use deception to convince the NPC." then the DM will ask "What do you say to deceive them?"
We do maximize character effectiveness, but we also roleplay.

I get your concept of roleplaying the deception but without a roll how do you determine success or failure?

You misunderstand. The roleplaying is the thing that let's you do the roll. Without the roleplaying you don't get to roll.

Ah ok makes sense so I roleplay the deception then the DM says make a deception roll

I'm interested in playing. I've primarily played 5e 2014, but I have played a little 2025. I'm a long time gamer looking for something to do in the middle of the week.

No, you can just describe what your character does and says, you don't have to do a voice.

Your situation looks interesting. I'm a long time D&D player (since 1978) and joining a stable playing group is an attractive idea. I'll message privately with personal details and questions.

I'm interested. Do you still have room. Also, is it 2024, but you allow 5e?

Yes, using the compatibility rules from 2024 (i.e. you use the old PHB for the race, class, and background but use the new PHB for feats and spells and everything else).
