    Welcome to public testing!

    EDIT 2012-06-26:
Test Mode can be accessed by selecting the Settings button from the Fantasy Grounds launch screen, changing the mode setting in the Settings dialog, and then selecting Update button to update the files to the test version.

    Key things:
    1) Always backup your campaign data before running the test version.
    2) Unless the update is a point release (i.e. v3.2.2): If the GM is running on test then all of the players will also be running on test.
    3) If you encounter an issues log them in the relevant testing thread - don't use the generic House of Healing forum, but post in the Test release thread instead.

To improve our ability to provide meaningful updates to our growing user base in a way that does as little as possible to interrupt your ongoing games, we've implemented a mechanism that allows users to switch to a test version of an upcoming revision to the program, while still allowing others to keep using the existing version.

You can switch back and forth between the test and live versions of Fantasy Grounds, allowing you to go back to the current stable version if some problems show up after a new test version is released. On the other hand, you can make sure your setup is working properly by trying out the test version when one is made available, and help us make sure it runs your game OK.

Whenever a new program version is completed, we will make it available as a test version. When that happens, a notice is made in this forum, and you can change the mode in the Fantasy Grounds settings.

Important: Both modes run off the same data, i.e. that stored in the Fantasy Grounds application data folder. Usually, we attempt to maintain downward compatibility, but you are adviced to always make backups of campaigns that you run in test mode. An even better practice is to make copies of your running campaigns, and use the copies exclusively for testing purposes.

A test version will usually be available for at least one week before we make it the current live version, available to all users by default. If a testing phase reveals major problems, the live release date is naturally pushed back until they are satisfactorily resolved.

Last but not least, we'd like to thank all our users who have reported and tracked down problems with the application, and those who continue to do so in the future.
