Unable to Share Notes to an Individual Player

Hello, I've been creating notes and sharing certain notes with individuals Players/Characters based on their knowledge of that subject. Ie: A paladin or Cleric would have a lot of information about their own diety and religion. So for a while, I would click and drag the notes over to the PC's and it would "share" it with that individual. However, ever since once of the latest updates, this capability no longer functions. I can only share publicly or not at all.

    System: 5e
    Platform: FG Unity
    T/S Steps performed:
I have opened up the note, treid to click and drag the "dragon" icon to the Characters Sheet, Portrait at the top, Portrait in Character Selciton, Portrait in a Battle Map, and even to their character in the Combat Tracker.

I had tried to track the dragon sheild/icon next to the note from the "Notes" window and drug it to each of the above areas.

I have done this with the note both "locked" and "unlocked"

I have done the above while taken Ownership of the PC

I have tried to right click on the "share" icon to see if there is any options there other than "public" (there is not).

I have tried the two above methods with the notes publicly shared to see if it changes it.

I have changed a note I had already shared with a individual, and tried to re-share it with only that one person again.

None of the above methods have worked.

    Feature: D&D - Official
    Feature: Universal Module
    5e - Polymorphism
    5e (and more) Equipped Effects
    5e (and more) Map Parcel

Has anyone attempted the note sharing in the last few weeks to see if they have the same problem/recreate it? Or is everyone able tested recently and it's working fine for sharing a note to a single PC?

I've just done a test and it works fine for me. The gotcha is that the player needs to be logged into your campaign and controlling the PC when you share the note by dragging the note link to the portrait in the top left of the desktop.

If it doesn't work with a player logged in and controlling a PC, then as @damned eludes to - check extensions.

I'll give this a shot. I could have sworn I was adding it to players after they logged off originally. I do a lot of my notes between sessions and such, so I was adding it to them while logged off (at least that's what I thought). I haven't updated or done any new extensions in about 3+ years... so unless an update broke that extension, I wouldn't think that would be the culprit. But it will be something I check out. I'll have to log in as a player I think and test this theory out.

So there was the trick that works now. I'll just log in as a "player" and take control of their PC's between games and do it this way from now on. Thanks! I would think this shouldn't be much of an issue to code out and allow it to any character as it's essentially a security group based on object names.

There's always had to be players logged in and controlling a PC to be able to drag to the PC portrait to share records. A few releases ago the PC portrait shows up on the desktop if the owning player isn't logged in and the PC has been added to the party sheet. The portrait shows darker when the players isn't logged in and controlling the PC - see the screenshot below, "Twoster" isn't currently controlled, but "Tester" is. Records can be dragged to the "Tester" portrait but not "Twoster".

Make sure you release control of the PC afterwards so that the players can take control of them when they log in later.

Yeah... I understand the logged on/off portraits. I guess my memory was wrong as I could have sworn I was able to do it with them logged off. So I guess they were playing or I was logging in and doing it for them. But such a "round about way" would hopefully have stuck with me. So I guess that leans more towards I wrote it, then shared it with them when they were playing. Again, thanks for that tid bit as that is what I was missing. And yup... they are released back into the wild after I was done!
