I can't see the characters in the upper left corner
Hello! I hope you all are okay!
As the title says, I was fighting with this problem all day, yesterday was my first day with the engine and i´m following the 2 introductory videos to the letter.
but (as the images show) after creating a character, I can't see it in the upper left corner
can someone give me a hand with this?

When you're running one session with no players joined, you're the GM. You only see the portraits of the PCs players who have joined your game have selected.

Hello! Thank you very much for the promptness of the response
What I just did was create a GM session and another as a player and join, now in both I see the sessions like in the video
is this procedure the correct one?

I'm not sure what procedure you're checking, but that's what happens when a player joins and selects a PC. You don't see portraits on the desktop unless a player has joined and selected a PC. If you're running a single session without players joined you access the PCs from the Character selection window.

He means that he started one instance on his computer as DM, and a second instance on the same computer as player and he joined his own game; in his player instance, after selecting the character he sees the character portrait on the top left, but on his DM instance he doesn't.
Which I don't think is normal, I just tested the same thing and I see the character portrait shown on the top left corner in both instances.
The video he's referring to are the Quick Start Guide 1 and 2 in the wiki: https://fantasygroundsunity.atlassia...orials---VideoPlease vote these quality-of-life features for Fantasy Grounds Unity:

The screenshots in post #1 were from their GM instance and from a video (not their FG desktop). In post #3 they confirmed that logging in a player instance resulted in "now in both I see the sessions like in the video".
My question was in response to "is this procedure the correct one?" I can't answer that without knowing what they're trying to do - i.e. what "procedure" they're following. For example: are they trying to create a PC? If so, they don't need to have two instances of FG running.
@Australok - please clarify what you're trying to accomplish and if you have any further questions.Private Messages: My inbox is forever filling up with PMs. Please don't send me PMs unless they are actually private/personal messages. first of all thank you for your answers
I just came home from work and I'm excited to continue with the game engine, I'm following the videos to the letter and I ran into that little hiccup, i solved the issue joining my own created game as player, so i have 2 instances open, one, where i´m a gm, and another as a player, in both i can see the characters portrait on the top left
but my question for which I made this post (sorry if I did not clarify well) is:
Should I do two game instances (as I did before, GM & player) to see the portraits? or is there a way to switch between player and gm without having to open another game instance and join the game?

There is not a way to switch between GM and player. Once you start the GM instance of FG that is the GM instance, you can't change. But, keep in mind that the GM can do everything (and more) that a player instance can do - they don't have to see the portraits to be able to access the PC sheets.

Just in case: is there some specific navigation or feature you are finding via the portraits, that you cannot find when they are not visible? If so, there is surely another way to the info/feature you need as the GM - just need to know what it is about the visible portraits that you're trying to do.

As a GM, if you drag s.th from the chat entry to a portrait, the dragged text will be whispered to the player of that portrait's character. The same goes for player whispers (whispers to DM can be dragged to the dice tower), but if the DM cannot see the portraits, dragging whispers onto them is a bit difficult... f course you can /w your msg, but drag-n-dropping is more intuitive (and easier if you are hemiplegic like me and can only type with one hand)
