Forge extension file locations
Usually, extensions end up in the extensions directory. But then some go to vault with guids for names. What is up with that?

It's up to the community developer whether their Forge content is secured in the vault; or whether the data files should be stored outside the vault. By default, Forge content is secured in the vault, unless the community developer sets it to be saved outside the vault.

There are three reasons I know of which prompt devs to put their extensions in the vault:
1) The extension is paid and they want to impede theft.
2) They did not notice the option and left it set to vault.
3) They have their source code listed elsewhere and want to simplify the experience for users by reducing the clutter in their extensions folder so that it's easier to see which extensions may still require manual updates.bmos' extensions

I had not yet tried to open a dat file to discover they were protected yet, so that makes sense. DWSI had moved into the Forge, but shortly before game time I noticed it was missing from extensions. I dropped in an old version. Well into gametime the druid tried to wildshape and it didn't work. Anyway, I eventually got it cleaned up. Guids for (or spaces in) file names, makes me want to roll double damage on someone.

I assume GUIDs are used because unique file names are required so that different Forge authors do not conflict with each other.
