How To Get Started with OSE/OSRIC on FGU?
I'm thinking about possibly starting an Old-School Essentials or OSRIC game on FGU. Before I dive in any further, I need to know if I can run them on FGU.
FGU doesn't seem to have a B/X/OSE or AD&D 1E/OSRIC rules system available when creating a new campaign. Nor does the Fantasy Grounds store return the OSE/OSRIC rulebook when I did a search there. How would I get started with OSE or OSRIC on FGU?

OSE rules are in the Forge.

ORSIC is a module that can be loaded into the AD&D 2e ruleset. Search the forums.
There was a AD&D 1e extension that worked with the 2e ruleset, I think it is still current.Last edited by Myrdin Potter; December 30th, 2021 at 14:18.

Thanks, I found the rules! Didn't think to search the Forge - never used it before.
So, am I understanding this right: Is the way to play AD&D 1E in Fantasy Grounds to use the AD&D 2E ruleset?

Hmm... selected that 1E Extension and all the OSRIC content in the Forge (they are in my Inventory) but they don't show up as modules in the campaign I created with the AD&D 2E ruleset.
How do I "activate" the extensions? I've never used the Forge or extensions before, so I'm a total noob with these kinds of things.
Do I need to buy the AD&D 2E core rule books for this to work?

This is starting to get into how to use FG, and there are a lot of videos and such that are better than forum posts.
Extensions you turn on in the load screen for your campaign.
Modules are opened via the library button/menu at the right of your screen once the campaign is open.Ultimate License. Running 2 5e campaigns. Asks lots of questions. Mgpotter.com. PureVPN is a tested solution to run games when traveling. https://billing.purevpn.com/aff.php?aff=33044

Hmm... I can't see the OSRIC extensions in the load screen at all. There are just the usual theme extensions.
I know where to open modules but I have not bought any AD&D 2E books. Do I need to buy them for this whole OSRIC thing to work?

You create a campaign using the 2e ruleset.
Most of the osric content in .mod or modules.
I cannot tell if you saved these into the correct folders.Ultimate License. Running 2 5e campaigns. Asks lots of questions. Mgpotter.com. PureVPN is a tested solution to run games when traveling. https://billing.purevpn.com/aff.php?aff=33044

Thanks, they were saved through the Forge, but I didn't know that I had to press the update button for the extension and modules to load. Now I see them and have them activated.
I'm still unclear on if I need the AD&D 2E core rule modules? (Players Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, Monstrous Manual) Does OSRIC use those or does OSRIC work on its own?

The OSRIC books give you what you need to play OSRIC in the D&D Classics ruleset. Just make a new campaign, load the modules and the extension and away you go.
You will learn more by stumbling around a bit, so don't be afraid you can't F things up."Liberty once lost is lost forever.
