FG Con 16 Friday April 16th to Sunday April 18th, 2021

    Greetings Travellers,

If you haven't heard FG Con 16 is right around the corner. I've been tossing some ideas around in my head on submitting an MGT2 game or two to run during the weekend. While I have some ideas I would like to hear yours as well!

Right now I'm thinking of providing pre-gens and skipping the character creation session (lame I know) and running two of the published modules. Or, doing one character creation session then one adventure.

Another possibility is to let players show up with characters created using the Travellers Companion's optional point buy or package builds.

Let me know what you all think and if there is any interest in co-coordinating as Ref's. We may be able to link several games as a community together over the course of the Con.

    Cheers,

    Greg

We have found that the most successful approach to running a game at FG Con is to provide pregens - it means you can fairly quickly jump into the game and get playing. Asking players to provide characters they created is a big overhead - coordination, answering questions, getting the character/loading it into Fantasy Grounds, etc. - and it may also put some players off.

Now, of course, a lot of the fun of Traveller is creating PCs, so maybe there's an exception to the rule here...

Every live Convention I have been to and ran events always used pre-gen characters. One, it speeds up the process and allows you to have full control over what skills/items the characters have. Not sure if FG Con charges or how they handle it, but you should get Mongoose to sponsor it.

This. I let them have two skill points they can spend any they want (save jack of all trades) but otherwise, the character is fully formed with backstory.

And yes, I'll be running a Traveller game at FG Con, as soon as I finish writing it. Still working on that.

dmccoy1693 I have settled on pre-gens based on everyone's feedback.

I will be running Marches Adventure 1 and 2, Friday and Sunday respectively, similar to how I did it at the FGC during Traveller month.
