I believe that the prone effect will grant disadvantage to all range attacks and advantage to all melee attacks. That should be OOTB, but extensions can change or break that. Also if an attack is not created correctly, it can be misinterpreted too. But let us know the details and can help resolve

Yes I was thinking the same thing. If the logs were
Krusk: [ATTACK (R)] Longsword [DIS] [DROPPED 19] [d20+6 = 17]
Then we would know the Longsword was coded for ranged attacks. As you point out ranged attacks would be at disadvantage if the target was prone.If you want a Wishlist in the Fantasy grounds store klick the link and upvote it.

I feel like the longsword is set up as a ranged weapon. On the actions tab of their character sheet, check what the icon next to the longsword entry shows, sword, bomb or bow symbol.
If it is not a sword, then that will be your issue.
