    [Unity-Related] Where do I start?

I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but this site is a little confusing navigating through...

    ... Hai there!
I am all new to this digital RPG-Tabletop stuff and finds it very intriguing... Also a bit overwhelming!
Considering all the great software on the market for roleplaying, I found Fantasy Grounds to be the one I thought the most about.
It does have a "steep" buying curve, but putting that aside, where do I start before jumping head-first into this? :-)))))

Any tips, tricks, and other useful information would be highly appreciated!

    ~ Zquence.

    Hi Zquence, welcome to FG.

Hard to answer since everyone has a different view on how to learn stuff. You also don't say what ruleset you are interested in using.

I'd start with the manual and the wiki both of which you can get to via links on the start page of FGU (you can download the demo). There's also a ton of links to videos and other stuff (chack the stickies at the top of the forum for the ruleset you want to use).

You can also join the Fantasy Grounds College who run classes and you'll get plenty of advice there as well as from the official Discord channel.

If there is something that you would like to see in Fantasy Grounds that isn't currently part of the software or if there is something you think would improve a ruleset then add your idea here https://www.fantasygrounds.com/featu...rerequests.php

So I would suggest you download and install the FG Unity version. You can run in demo mode until you decide to buy a license.

Then I would suggest you use one of the tutorials. FG is pretty powerful, and for some folks its not intuitive, so just deciding to play with it or poke around and figure it out on your own is not suggested. You can do the tutorial campaign, or follow along from one of the many FG videos, or the user manual etc.

I also second the recommendation for a free class from FG College. And of course, don't hesitate to ask us here. As for the forums, if the question is specific to a game system ("how do I do X in D&D 5E...") then it's best to ask that question in the ruleset specific forum so you get the best answers the quickest.

    Welcome!

If learning through books is your deal then yes the WIKI and tutorials are the way to go.

IMO there is too much to learn and I would take either the intro to FG or Character creation at https://fantasygroundscollege.net/.

They taught me more in an hour than I could learn on my own. The classes are free and you can do them with the free client so you will have no money down and have a good idea about how you want to move forward.

I doubt you will find a better group of people to help you than on these forums. When you find something you have a question about someone here will help which is huge from my point of view. Support of a product is vital and these guys go way beyond with helping people.

Zacchaeus also should have giving you this awesome link.
