    Custom Long Rest Settings?

In my game I've modified the long rest mechanic so that characters don't recover all their hitpoints at the end of a long rest. Is there a way to modify the long rest feature to implement this change into Fantasy Grounds?

    Thanks

    Which ruleset?

    The standard 5E ruleset.

This would have to be added as an extension that modified the scripts handling rests in 5E ruleset.

There's also support for a couple of the official healing variants from the official books in the Options under House Rules, including "Slow Natural Healing".

It will need an extension written to do this.

If you're into coding - look at the "rest" function in campaign\scripts\manager_char.lua in the 5E ruleset. This resets powers and HP - via the resetHealth function a few lines lower in that file.

Couldn't you just use the "Gritty Realism" setting to prevent that? Found in options of FG, as thats a Variant Rule present within the ruleset and supported by FG natively.

I think that's Savage Worlds? It's not an options available across all rulesets.

The OP asked about the 5E ruleset though?

In the options menu, under the house rules category, there is the PC: Healing Variants.
There are three options which correspond to the variant rules in the 5E DMG. Slow Natural Healing disables Player Characters regaining hitpoints as part of a long rest. To the best of my knowledge and testing, that is the only mechanic it changes, and should be adequate for my understanding of what the OP is trying to achieve, without requiring an Extension to do so.

My understanding of what the OP is trying to achieve is to prevent player characters from regaining their HP back (removing the wounds back to 0) as a result of a long rest.

Edit: Which I see Moon Wizard already mentioned above, as a possible solution...

Sorry, I wasn't aware of an option called "Gritty Realism" in the D&D 5e ruleset; whereas in Savage Worlds there is an option called "Gritty Damage" and I though you were referring to that.

At least I think that's what it's called! I could well be wrong! I also wasn't aware there was a similar sounding option in Savage Worlds either
