I've emailed my campaign just for viewing characters as well.

Character Umlilo was created on Adam's 'Tol Vehara' campaign.
Exported to xml and emailed to Doug and imported to 'My Character's' campaign.
Exported and emailed to Adam's 'Tol Vehara' campaign.

The issue with spell groups randomizing, changing type eg from spell to ability or ability to spell, changing to other groups, creating new groups and moving some but not all spells of a class (like first level) to it have taken place after every export and every server load even without a new export.
