FGU Image Maps - Set Pins and shortcuts in map
Hi FGU team,
First of all thanks for that nice product. It is already a nice piece of software.
Now to my question:
I searched the forum and the wiki.
https://fantasygroundsunity.atlassia...ages+as+the+GM
All the way down I can see screenshots with pins.
I need to set pins otherwise it makes it impossible for me to browse walk through my campaign.
Even when I love the possibility to add two layers in my map one shown to players and the GM map not shown to players.
for more non-railroad campaign you need to set shortcuts from a map to notes, encounters etc.
In terms of usability for its purpose I would trade in the whole LoS Feature against that.
So please please tell me that I am just to stupid to find that feature and that this is not a feature FG will deliver later.
Where can I add links to notes, encounters, Storypages etc. in my map?
(Following MoSCoW this is a must and shall be in the MVP.)
greets Chris

Drag the story, encounter or whatever and drop it on the map.
If there is something that you would like to see in Fantasy Grounds that isn't currently part of the software or if there is something you think would improve a ruleset then add your idea here http://fgapp.idea.informer.com/

Thanks so much for this - I couldn't figure it out either. *rolls her eyes*. Now, can anyone please tell me how to move a map pin once I've put it down? I have two that are not in the right place, and I want to scootch them over. Thanks!

Just mouse over then until you see a hand icon and then click and drag.

In case you didn't know, you usually pin story entries to the map. This is because story entries can also have links so you use the story entry as the hub to information about that location/area. IE in the this example the areas have story entries which are pinned to the map. Then the story entry can have multiple links to anything else you need to reference: images (including other maps), encounters, treasure, quests, tables, etc. Then you run the adventure from the map. Note the "Map" doesn't really have to be a map, it can be a storyboard to help you deal with non-linear adventures.

I thought that was how it worked from FGC, but when I tried to do it, it wasn't working. Then after I closed out and went back in, I accidentally grabbed one while trying to do something else, and it moved. Is there some setting that would cause the pins to be temporarily frozen? Thanks!

I don't think their is a lock pins option. If it did exist it would be a toggle from the right mouse menu. More likely your FG window was active when you were trying to drag the pin. But hard to say for sure.

Is it possible you were in "Layers" mode when you tried to move the pin but couldn't? You have to be in "Play" mode to move them.
The pins appear to be locked to the grid rather than the map in Layer mode, locking the map locks it to the pins and grid; unlock the map and it can be moved around underneath them.Alea iacta est

Thanks guys! I had no idea that I could lock stuff or that being in layers mode prevented the pins from moving.
