I guess I have to quit using fantasy grounds. I no longer have a wifi connection and would need to use a 3rd party connection like hamachi. I tried it and I could not get it to work. I guess theres no other way to get this to work?

What couldnt you get to work on Hamachi? Did you use the guide on these forums?

Shouldn't Unity solve the issues with using 3rd party like hamachi. But don't know why not having wifi is an issue. I connect with a cable and don't use wifi. Not having an internet connection would make things difficult though...

It is a little vague. You have an internet connection, but do not control the ports? And you want to DM?

I have used a VPN (PureVPN - link in my signature) successfully in hotels all over the world, including China. I have also connected and DMed in the United Lounge in Hong Kong Airport using it and have DMed using my phone as a hot spot as well.

If you gave a little more detail, I am sure someone could help.

I have a beast of a landlord who controls the router and because she can play Angry Birds on her cellphone, THE WIFI IS A. OK....if you know what I mean? Nobody cares if the guy who is renting cant play a silly game called fantasy grounds (and probably thinks it's porn) because it requires some archaic control of access ports like things did in 1998.

So if I want to play FG with people I have to find a way to connect it to my cellphone via the USB tether or wifi hotspot. I refuse to connect to another VPN thats going to charge money to use. I also play with people who have a specific learning curve to things like VPN's. They will think its some kind of NSA listening device used to plot their demise and/or too complicated. For gods sake man, have you ever tried to get someone mic to work in discord for them? Can you imagine having them connect into a VPN like hamachi? I would die....

I have my computer hooked into my Galaxy S10 via USB tether or wifi hotspot. I disabled firewall in windows, and FG wont pass network test. I enable firewall, and the FG settings for private and public and still wont connect. Why does this program defy logic? Why does something I want to use seem to be so hard to use when it wasnt before.

All I got to say besides if anyone can help is: Dear Smiteworks, remove this crap access port requirement. It's 2020 we put a man on the moon in 1969, for gods sake we dont need this frigging level of security on a RPG VTT!!!

Unlimited number of connections for zero tiers but gm and players need to have it installed like hamachi. I have a 9 min youtube video showing how to set it up if you want to give it a try. They did remove the port forwarding requirement in the new FGU version. Back when the game was initially launched, port forwarding was pretty normal.

There are some free or near pretty options for a VPN that the DM only has to use, there are examples buried in this forum. Only the DM has to run it.

My experience with cell phones is that they do not open ports, so tethering to a cell phone does not help without a VPN. I use PureVPN because it works and because I travel a lot and I need to be able to have additional privacy in hotels and the extra functionality of geo-shifting Netflix and such is a bonus.
