You can install either via the installer or via Steam; it is the same program either way. You'll find the same discount on the store as well by the way.
If there is something that you would like to see in Fantasy Grounds that isn't currently part of the software or if there is something you think would improve a ruleset then add your idea here https://www.fantasygrounds.com/featu...rerequests.php

Oh something important:
You can link your steam and smiteworks accounts for Fantasy Grounds which can be important if you have purchased (different) DLCs on both:
https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/...count_To_Steam
However you can only get the 'Complete your Collection' bonuses on whichever store you have purchased the earlier books. So it makes sense to choose just one of them to get DLCS in those CYC packs.Last edited by Squeak; November 27th, 2019 at 14:44.

I'd like to buy the ultimate when it is released. If I buy now is there any upgrade option?

Yes, see this thread; https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forum...-Upgrade-Paths
Note, the FG Store has the same pricing as Steam, and more money goes to the developers. But whatever you do, if you everwant bundle pricing, buy your DLC in one place. You won't qualify for bundles if some of your content is from Steam and some from FG Store.

Yes there will be an upgrade option:

Last i heard Unity is expected to be released in First quarter (edited) 2020
Note that relatively speaking the upgrade path for standard edition is much better since the discount on standard atm is so high. And since standard is so cheap one route might be to persuade everyone to spend the one time $10 fee for FG standard right now and then you can buy the Ultimate version of Unity later. Or you could get Ultimate now, and upgrade to Ultimate for Unity later or go for a $10 Ultimate sub till then.Last edited by Squeak; November 27th, 2019 at 16:14.

You may want to consider emailing [email protected] and getting a refund (if you bought via the store), then wait for Unity to be released.
Some advice and information about running FG in Catalina here https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forum...c-users-bewareIf there is something that you would like to see in Fantasy Grounds that isn't currently part of the software or if there is something you think would improve a ruleset then add your idea here https://www.fantasygrounds.com/featu...rerequests.php
