    Update Question

What does this mean at the top of the weekly City Hall post?

Please remember not to update right before a game starts.

In order for some of the updates to be visible, you may need to open the modules window from Library->Modules, right click on the book for the updated module and select "revert changes". Be warned, any edits you've made will be lost.

Why not update right before a game starts? Why revert changes after an update?

If you update just before a game starts and there is some kind of showstoping bug in the update or the bug corrupts the database for some reason. This could ruin your game session.
So best is to update when you have plenty of time to revert back before your next gaming session.

Reverting changes means reverting changes you have made to a module in your campaign.

So, say for example you changed some text in a Story entry then any update to the module will leave the changes you have made alone; you will see your version of the story entry in your campaign and would not see the story from the original module. If, however you did want to see the original story entry as it appears in the module you can revert the changes that you have made. You can revert changes to either a single entry (NPC, story, item etc etc) by righ clicking on that item and selecting revert changes. You can see on any list what entries you have changed since they'll have a small book and pen icon on the right rather than just a book icon. You can also revert all of the changes to a module that you have made by right clicking on the module in the module activation screen and selecting revert changes.

As allmight says you should not update just before a session starts since if you have any issues then you could end up not being able to run your session. People's computers change and things like Anti virus or router firmware updates can sometimes stop FG from working properly and it can sometimes take a while to track down exactly what the problem is. So it is good advice.
If there is something that you would like to see in Fantasy Grounds that isn't currently part of the software or if there is something you think would improve a ruleset then add your idea here https://www.fantasygrounds.com/featu...rerequests.php
