Languages and chat do not seem to work

So I have a couple of PCS that have Elven as a language and I have switched the chat language to Elven in the drop down and it puts Elven script in the chat when I type something but it always says understood by and that is blank. Does this not function or is there something I need to set up?

I would check the spelling on the character sheet, make sure it's the same as the one in chat, elven or elvish (I dont have FG at work to check the spelling), try it also all in lowercase.
