Mapping aerial encounters in 3D?
I'm about to run an aerial encounter in CoC. I have a map of an airplane with room outside it to place the adversaries. I'd like at least three levels: above, level, and below the plane on the same map? Perhaps portray each adversary with a different type of letter marker depending on the altitude?
Is there a way to achieve this without having multiple maps, each for a different level?

I am using tokens with numbers on them to map heights, zones, distances if needed in vertical.
Sometimes multiple maps are used, but in general I have one ground level and "air levels"Last edited by Valyar; September 21st, 2018 at 12:34.

Their may be an extension or two that allows you to assign a height/altitude to a token. But not sure. Plus odds are it might be 5E or PF specific.
I would suggest just using two set of number tokens to place near the CT token indicating levels above or below a reference plane.

Yeah, I think using different tokens for the levels is the easiest solution!

A really simple way would be to turn on Token Facing and use the Up Arrow as the Top layer, Side Arrow as the Middle layer and the Down Arrow as the Bottom layer.

The way that I do it for flying characters in my 5e D&D game is to just add an effect to the flying creature that shows their current height (“HEIGHT 0 ft.”, “HEIGHT 60 ft.”, etc.). Then, when I hover over the token on the map, it shows the height that they are flying at (especially useful for owl familiars lol).
You could just adapt this and use descriptions instead of numbers.Proud Ultimate License Holder
