    Beholder's Lair (Volo's Guide) - D&D 5e

    So... I figured it would be fun for my players to delve into a Beholder's Lair and I was editing my campaign module and I noticed that Volo's Guide has a Beholder's Lair map! Awesome!

    For some reason, two of them show up. One under a Volo's Guide category and another under Maps - Volo's Guide. And, of course there is also a Player and a GM version of the map for a total of 4.

    So I picked one of the player maps (I'm not exactly sure which one, set up a grid on it, added a bunch of encounters, etc. Then I exported the module, thinking everything is fine.

    Game night comes and I load up my campaign (which references the exported module) and there's only one copy of the map (one for GM and one for players) and all the stuff I did to it, all the links, the grid, the masking, the encounters are all gone. And the map that are in here, I can't unlock. I can make a grid and a mask, but since I can't unlock the map, I can't unmask anything and I am totally screwed.

    Am I not supposed to use the maps included in Volo's Guide or something? What do I do now?

    Do you have both the players and full versions of VtGM loaded? I think those maps are in both so if you have both loaded you'll have duplicates.

    Use the map from the map pack since the one in the actual guide is locked and therefore you can't really use that (and can't export it either). Open the Map pack module in the campaign that you want to use it in, create the encounters etc in that and run it from there. Again you can't copy the maps in the map pack and so can't export it.
