Output to chat from table question

If I want to output the results from a dice roll in a table to chat so that all players can see - how do I do that?

Currently - when I output the result to chat it appears in my chat window as purple text but it is not visible for the players.

Drag/drop the hidden result in the chat window - just literally drag it a short distance within the what window and drop it.

Anything that is hidden can be displayed to the players by "middle clicking" the mouse on the chat message (this is usually a middle mouse button, or on some wheel mice, clicking with the wheel, or on two button mice, this can sometimes be done by clicking both left and right at the same time). You can also drag the hidden text, and drop it back onto the chat window to display it. Some rulesets have a "reveal GM rolls" feature, either under options or with a slash command ("/die reveal"), and when these rolls are revealed, by default table rolls will be shown to the players (but so will all other rolls).

We can give you more detailed information if you'll let us know which ruleset you're using.

    And welcome to the forums!

Yep - that's what I did I was just wondering if there was a way to skip the 'drag and drop' step - that's all - thanks.

Hi - I'm using the 5e rules and let me try and explain what I'm trying to do - maybe there is a better way to do it.

I created a rumor table that is essentially eight different rumors that I want to randomly (based on a die roll) generate for the players as the game progresses. I have made the rumor table and set the output to chat - however, it doesn't "chat" it publicly - I still need to drag and drop the result into the chat box - I was just wondering if that result could be directly displayed.

    And thanks for the welcome!

It can be publicly displayed directly - but only if you set "Chat: Show GM Rolls" to On - which will then show all GM rolls.

Other options you have is to set the rumours in the table as story entries and then share the relevant story entry with the players. Or set the story entry text as Chat text, then open the relevant story entry the table returns (click the link in the chat window) and then click the chat bubble to put the text into chat for the players. It's more clicks than just dragging/dropping the hidden result to make it visible. Whether this is worthwhile probably depends on how large the text is.
