FG Con 10 - GM Registration now open - and GM Admin Workshops

GM event registration for FG Con 10 is now open!

GM event registration guidelines here: https://www.fg-con.com/information/gm-guidelines/ Please read the PDF on how to enter an event: https://www.fg-con.com/wp-content/up...elines2016.pdf

Remember to set your local time zone at the bottom of your profile. And, very important, when you register your event enter the time in UTC 0 time zone - remember that the Northern Hemisphere countries, that use it, will be in Daylight Savings. So New York, usually UTC-5 will be UTC-4, London will be UTC+1, etc.. If you're unsure, use a website such as https://www.timeanddate.com to check your local time against UTC time to know what to enter in your event registration.

    A few things to note:
    1. FG Con is a free to play community ran convention that runs over 72 hours: Friday April 7th to Sunday April 9th, 2017.
    2. GM's must have at least a Standard (Full in old terms) Fantasy Grounds license to run a game. SmiteWorks will temporarily upgrade all Standard license to Ultimate for the duration of the convention, thus allowing people with demo licenses to play in all games.
    3. Games must be advertised on the FG Con website: https://www.fg-con.com/ and must use the booking system on that site.
    4. Games must use the community TeamSpeak server - please no Discord or anything else. If you're running a text based game we still recommend you have your game meet/start on the TeamSpeak server in case there are any technical issues with a player not being able to join or need some real-time Q&A.
    5. GMs must use the current live version of Fantasy Grounds to run their games - don't use older versions or the test/dev channel.
    6. When you register your event, and each time you change the event, it will be taken off the public view and require moderation before being published. This goes for any modification, no matter how minor. So don't keep editing your event - especially as time gets closer to the weekend of the convention. If you need to make players aware of updates either email them (you will have access to their booking email address) or use the comments section for more public communication.
    7. Player booking will not be open until Friday, March 17th.

A few things to consider for your session/s:
    • Aim for your session to be between 3-5 hours in length. Start on time and endeavour to end on time (aim to end 15 minutes before the end of your time slot) - players will frequently book back-to-back games so don't mess it up for the following games by running late.
    • Use pregen characters (unless your game is part of organized play (5E Adventurers Leagues or Pathfinder Society) where you usually bring your own characters. If you're not running organized play, don't try to get players to make their characters specifically for the game, or allow one player to bring their own - it will just lead to headaches. Have pregens for all PCs so you can jump into the game and you're aware of the character abilities.
    • The convention is global and covers all age ranges - aim your session to have a "PG/13" rating and don't use any inflammatory subjects.
    • Be prepared and know how to use FantasyGrounds and TeamSpeak before the convention starts. You don't need to be a "professional" FG GM - just know how the key aspects of the game you're going to run work and don't overreach - for example, if you're not familiar with effects then don't use them, etc..

We have some Third Party Publisher (3PP) support, so if you're stuck for something to run reach out to us and we'll see what 3PP support we can arrange.

    GM Admin Workshops

We will be running some GM admin workshops to help GMs setup their event in the FG Con website and recommend how to coordinate player bookings/communications.

I know this is late notice, but there will be three sessions this weekend:

    1) Saturday afternoon (USA time), evening (UK/Europe) and Sunday morning Aus/NZ. Use this link to work out the time: https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclo...40&p8=22&p9=37 Ran by Damned.
    2) Sunday lunchtime (USA), evening (UK/Europe): https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclo...40&p8=22&p9=37
    3) Sunday evening USA time: https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclo...7&p8=240&p9=22

Each session will be 1 hour long and will cover basics of the FG Con website, entering an event, what to organize for your game (session length, pregens, etc.), how to accept/manage player bookings, how to communicate with players.

These sessions will not show you how to organize your game in Fantasy Grounds/how to run a specific RPG system. We will consider organizing workshops for these subjects if there is enough interest.

Connection details for the above events to follow.

For more details on the GM admin workshop, and for any questions/attendance details, see here: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forum...dmin-workshops
