    PFRPG/3.5E Effects vs 5E Effects

    Greetings,

I assume that with the advent of D&D 5E, and the creation of its Fantasy Grounds ruleset, the code governing Effects, within FG, was brought forward from earlier rulesets (i.e. it was not a total rewrite), and updated to include those aspects which are peculiar to 5E. Likewise, I would assume that the associated documentation for the 5E implementation of Effects was a rewrite of, and improvement on, the former Effects documentation, e.g. PFRPG/3.5E, and that the material that went in to that effort is probably, in large part, derived from, and applicable to the behavior of Effects back up the line to the CoreRPG...

I ask this because there was some nice work done, documentation-wise, in the 5E documentation, and I would like to use it to read through and refresh my memory on the behavior of Effects, as they are implemented in PFRPG/3.5E.

So, my question is: Is it safe to assume that the introductory portion of the 5E Effects documentation (until you get down to the 'Reference' section) is, for the most part, applicable to Effects, as implemented anywhere else in FG, regardless of ruleset? Or, at least, applicable to the PFRPG/3.5E implementation of Effects...

I guess another way of asking this would be: How much of the D&D 5E Ruleset Effects documentation applies to Effects as implemented in the PFRPG/3.5E Ruleset?

    ??

    Thanks.

I think the basics of how to create and use effects are probably the same but the 5e system is somewhat different from the 3.5 one so I don't really know how much you would get out of applying the 5e logic to 3.5.
If there is something that you would like to see in Fantasy Grounds that isn't currently part of the software or if there is something you think would improve a ruleset then add your idea here https://www.fantasygrounds.com/featu...rerequests.php
