problem with Character Portraits
Im trying to create custom character portraits. I know how to use Photoshop (no problems there)... this is what i do:
copy one of portrait files...bring it into photoshop and replace it....
when i get into fg and go to choose the pic..its there...
then i replace it...and when i close the window the character portrait is blank.. and then i cant get it to change to anything but blank...
any help????

I've never had any problems with portraits. This is how I do them:
I make a nice character in Poser and export it as jpg image. Then, I open Photoshop and crop the image to roughly a square, that has everything I want there to be. After cropping I resize the image with image size and canvas size. The result is a tiny 63x63 pixel image. Finally, save it as png with a reasonably short and descriptive filename without special characters or spaces. Result is about 6kb image. Then I just copy the png to ...\fantasygrounds\portraits. Shows up fine.
Of course, if you want others to see it too, I think they need to have it in their folder.Last edited by acmer; September 2nd, 2006 at 07:37.
