I still consider myself inexperienced, but iam getting there. Its alot of experiencing how things work out if you use them and then you gotta experiment with it.
Heres some things i use the most in photoshop:
    1. Image > Adjust > Match color and also color lookup.
    2. Using layers and blend options.
    3. Using a brush that has lower opacity and flow so it looks like its smooth and doesnt produce harder lines. The spot healing brush then can bring both together, thou it doesnt always work.
    4. Burn tool and highlights obviously espaciley for walls.
    5. Different layers for different shadows, and also make use of the blur tool to make stuff stand out by putting some field of depth onto the image.

Also this thread on reddit is a good way to start out: https://www.reddit.com/r/battlemaps/...e_tutorial_v2/ espaciley the big pack of items in it.

Aight heres more, ive tried a different way of creating maps by following this pretty amazing tutorial.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDQKnb6c-7Q I found it to be very simple to follow if you do exactly what he does in the video, ive also made notes for future reference.

    Thanks for sharing!

Can I suggest you include a 5ft square in the top right or top left corner to help people apply a grid in FG for it?

Maybe, but i really dont like to do that more of a personal preference.
All of my maps should do fine with a grid size of either 50, 75 or 100.
50 is usally a good size if you want to explore or make everything feel huge.
75 is a good all around size but mostly used for combat.
100 is when you dont want long distances between monsters.

Writing that reminds me what i like about 5e what iam playing right now. No actual set rule and more guidelines

Good to know what you had in mind when you made the maps. I suspect some people will still be confused when they go to use them, but never an insurmountable issue. Thanks again for sharing.
