XML Conventions

I am a beginner with XML, but am wondering why you've chosen to disregard use of DTDs (data type definitions) and namespaces. DTDs would seem to make it easier for users to make custom rulesets. Namespaces would seem to make it easier to interoperate with the XML output of other tools.

I wondered about that too after I picked up 'XML For Dummies' when I started working on my ruleset.
