DragonLancce 1E
Hi,
I just recently invested in the complete DragonLance 1E series... SO now Im looking through the FG rulesets and trying to figure out which Ruleset would be easiest to convert or use for running these games.....Last edited by jhall6766; April 15th, 2015 at 23:14.

Unless you use the OSRIC ruleset you'll need to convert to C&C or D&D5e. C&C may be less work but personally, I would convert to 5e.

What tools would be needed to convert these over to 5E or C & C ... Ive never really tried to do conversions before... I have both the 5E as well as C&C rulesets.. IS there anything else I would need....

C&C would be the simplest.
5e would be a nice changeup though.

I'd go with C&C myself. You will find yourself changing the least amount of content.

To do a conversion you either need to be familiar with both systems, or not care if your conversion to the new system is accurate/challenge appropriate/etc.. I've spent hours and hours in the past trying to do an accurate statistics conversion from one system to the other - but is it really necessary? You're playing the Dragonlance series because it's the Dragonlance series, not because it has cool NPC challenges everywhere that you need to convert accurately. For most encounters use standard NPCs from the MM (or similar) - keeping a similar encounter challenge level. For detailed NPCs you may need to build them from scratch or just do a rough approximation in your new system. Don't spend lots of time converting statistics, just replace with already available NPCs etc. in the new system - change the names and some things in the stats if you want something different.

Thanks Trenloe,
It seems a daunting task to convert all these.. I imagine this will all need to be done in script....Im familiar with both C & C as well as D&D5E... However I am no expert..Last edited by jhall6766; April 16th, 2015 at 18:18.

I'm not sure what you're referring to here. The Dragonlance 1E series you mention you have is physical books/PFSs right? It's not in Fantasy Grounds at the moment?
If it's not in Fantasy Grounds then you will need to build the scenario modules manually - I'd recommend doing this through the FG interface, not through PAR5E (unless you're very, very proficient with that).
If you're going to play your game with voice (TeamSpeak, etc.) then the amount of information you need to put in Fantasy Grounds is drastically reduced - you'll be speaking/reading a lot of the data directly from the Dragonlance books you have. All you really need to have prepared in Fantasy Grounds are maps/images, NPCs and Encounters, Items and item parcels, and tokens you might want to use. Then just run the rest of the game from the books.
Some info on entering data into Fantasy Grounds here: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forum...antasy-Grounds
Also see Xorn's excellent videos.
You'll have to do the conversion to whichever system you plan on running - but see my post above about using standard NPCs/Monsters from your target system rather than trying to convert the stats from 1E accurately.Private Messages: My inbox is forever filling up with PMs. Please don't send me PMs unless they are actually private/personal messages.
