What is the "Prepared" box in the "Power Group" Window?

Under Power Groups, at the bottom, is a box that says Prepared. It allows you to enter a number. I can't figure out what it does. Say I'm working on my level 1 spells, I can leave that box blank, or put a number in there like the number of spells that can be prepared.. but it doesn't seem to do anything. I can still mark any number of spells in the group as prepared, it seems.

What am I missing?

It's purely informational, as a place to put the details of number of prepared spells for Wizards. It is not enforced.
