    Framed NPC tokens/Token Masks..

I know I've seen some folks who use tokens with frames before.. I'm wondering how that's done.. an extension or part of the token graphics?
If it's an extension I'd like to see how it works so I might try and utilize it in my ruleset.

Ideally I'm looking to create HEX shaped NPC tokens.

Not sure what you mean by "frames".

In general you can do tokens in any shape with Photoshop or GIMP. You define the out edges of the token (leave the outside transparent), then define an inner area (as a mask that marks the images you put in there). Then you can quite easily generate lots and lots of tokens.

I have a photoshop file that has a circle and a set of frames. I select the circle and delete everything outside the circle on the image, then save it with the frame on top. The process takes about 10 seconds with hotkeys.
I never claimed to be sane. Besides, it's more fun this way.

It's easier to define the area you want the image to show in black, then position the image in the layer above that and ALT-click on the border between the two layers. That way you can shift the image until you are happy with it without cutting up the image.

portrait_token.png and portrait_token_mask.png in the graphics\portraits directory of CoreRPG are used to make the token from the portrait. You could try changing these to be hex shaped for auto generating a hex token from the character portrait.

I have already done that for the PCs and it works great.. I'm looking for a way to do it with the NPCs so that the tokens all match now.

Hrm... I am getting that most of you deal with this manually. I could swear I've seen some sorta screwed up looking tokens (stand alone figures in square frames) that I assumed were being created by some sort of extension by mistake.

Tokens in the normal tokens area/bag are just graphics files. There is nothing in FG that modifies the shape of these - all FG will do is resize them. You need to have hexagonal tokens to start with.
