Never saw those in my youth - and thank goodness for that. If I'd thought it was "cool" I'd probably have stopped playing.

Yeah, certainly the "cool" people didn't think D&D was cool where I come from. I was too big and burly to find myself stuffed in a locker or something like that, but IIRC it did happen to a few others.
Then again, when I visit every few years I still see those "cool" people sitting by the town clock in the main square waiting for their welfare cheques to come in because who needs to be smart and develop marketable skills when you've got swag... er sorry, I meant when you're cool."I am a Canadian, free to speak without fear, free to worship in my own way, free to stand for what I think right, free to oppose what I believe wrong, or free to choose those who shall govern my country. This heritage of freedom I pledge to uphold for myself and all mankind."

I believe the first two pictures feature Gary Gygax's daughter, Elise.

Elise, huh? Was she also perhaps the 'bond girl' on the cover of the Top Secret box? Those kinda clunky wooden pumps and her body shape in the 2nd photo seem familiar (attractive in a 'real human being' sense, rather than a 'typical model' sense).
