Venture Captain?
This may have been answered previously, and I missed it. Is there a Venture Captain for PFS on FG? I am fairly new to PFS, but not GMing or playing, and I was considering running one of the intro PFS scenarios to get my feet wet. The players I have met around town here are a good group, but are already pretty tight. They invited me in, but our playstyles are vastly different.
I was thinking that FG would be a good outlet for me, as my current group isnt really interested in playing Pathfinder. They are more interested in Faerun, so we are there. The thing is, I cant seem to find any info on anything special that needs to be done to be a PFS GM. From what I can tell, one simply gets the scenario, sets up the game, and runs it. Am I missing something?
I thought the VC could help out with answering this.
Thanks!

Im no Venture Captain, as I'm not sure exactly what that title gains a person. But I would make a guess that if there were such a person here it would be Trenloe. I believe he has connections with Paizo in some manner.
As for GMing all you need is a PFS ID #, which can be found HERE.
And yes your correct. If you have a copy of a sanctioned module and it's not "retired"(as I learned yesterday) then all you need to do is build it within FG. And if you need help creating your scenario check out the thread HERE or send me a PM, I'll be glad to help.
When your ready create a post on the Game Calendar, create a post on the Game Announcement Thread, and Create a Game Post her within The PFS Subthread.
Check out the thread about posting for games HERE.
Hope this helps and I'm excited to see more GM's! For your game, "PICK ME, PICK ME!"

As far as I know, the title of "Venture-Captain" tells players the person bearing the title is a very active GM and event coordinator and knows very much about current rulings. For example, I heard a venture-captain has to run a certain amount of events regularly.
As for GMing, Trueshots summarized it quite well.
You also should create the event on paizo's website, so you can later report it.
So, in short:
- purchase the scenario pdf
- create the event on paizo's website
- build the scenario on FG
- announce the game on FG
- run the game
- give everyone their chronicle sheets
- report the game on paizo's website"The trouble with quotes on the internet is that it's difficult to discern whether or not they are genuine."

There isnt currently a specific vc for fantasy grounds. Paizo picks vcs by geographical region. I do know of a vl gm on here though.
while i am not a vc or anything, i would be more than happy to help you get set up to run pfs legal scenarios. if you want to get together on ts just let me know!
It would be awesome to have another gmUltimate License Holder - My games are free to play

Welcome to Fantasy Grounds Baelmordan.
We don't have a Paizo Venture Captain assigned specifically to Fantasy Grounds. I am a Venture Lieutenant (Denver, CO) and have been running with a lot of the admin and setup of PFS games here, so if you need to know anything specific especially from a Paizo or Pathfinder Society side let me know.
There are a number of sticky threads in this Pathfinder Society sub-forum that give info about getting going as a GM and/or player.
Also, the community in general is very helpful.
But, to answer your question, it is basically as simple as buying the scenario, preparing the game in Fantasy Grounds, advertising your game on here (there's a sticky thread on that), get the players together on TeamSpeak and Fantasy Grounds, run the game and issue chronicle sheets.
PM (private message) me if you want more info or have specific questions. Or, post here...
Welcome again and I hope you get to enjoy playing PFS on Fantasy Grounds as much as we do.Private Messages: My inbox is forever filling up with PMs. Please don't send me PMs unless they are actually private/personal messages. General FG questions should be asked in the forums - don't be afraid, the FG community don't bite and you're giving everyone the chance to respond and learn!

Thanks for both the information and the warm welcome. I am in the process of setting up one of the PFS intro scenarios for FG. Its a little more work than I thought it would be, but I have to say its pretty fun. I am planning to run all three of the intros, as I think they are good place to start as a beginning GM for PFS, as well as getting possibly new players involved.
When I get it finished, I will post the dates and times I plan to run. If I end up with to many players, I will gladly run it again for those that were not able to play.
Thanks for the helpful advise from everyone who responded. I can see this is going to be a great community to hang with. I am really looking forward to it.

Those are great choices, I was thinking of running those to. But instead, I'll just jump in your game Yea it takes me a good while to put one together, I get a little crazy bout stuff though. I know a few GM's tell me they can put them together in 6-7 hours typically but I surly can't.

In a normal setting, I can throw a game together with only a few notes. I am an aspiring writer, so storylines and characters are easy for me to do. A few keywords, and I can remember or create every detail needed. For the PFS, I am being careful not to lose anything from the scenario. As a matter of fact, I have printed a hard copy as well, so I have it for reference while running the game. I dont work until later tomorrow night, so I am hoping to have it completed sometime tomorrow morning. I will let you know Trueshots, seeing as how your a fellow Carolinean!

I'm looking forward to your game announcement. I think I'll play as well if the time is good for me. I still have some level 1 characters who could need the XP
