This is covered in the Advanced Players Guide - see the second paragraph of the "Alternate Class Features" section here: https://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/...reClasses.html
For PFS you can make any changes to your character before they hit level 2, so you can chop and change archetypes before then. Combining is OK - as long as those archetypes are allowed in PFS (check here: https://paizo.com/pathfinderSociety/...ionalResources) and they don't have overlapping class features (as described in the first link above).Private Messages: My inbox is forever filling up with PMs. Please don't send me PMs unless they are actually private/personal messages. Some combinations just don't make sense.

You can apply multiple archetypes to a base class, as long as they don't replace the same abilities. In PFS, you may also add archetypes to an existing class if they don't replace anything you have already gained at an earlier level.
But you can't mulitclass into another archetype of the same class, they are still the same base class. For example you couldn't be a Rogue (Pirate) 2 / Rogue (Investigator) 3; Once you take classes in Rogue, you must apply all Rogue archetypes to the same levels of the base class (using the above limitations, of course) (and of course, the same is true for all other classes).
btw: Wouldn't be a very balanced game if someone chose to take 1 level in every fighter archetype and end up with a bonus feat every level (and a base Fortitude save twice his character level)"The trouble with quotes on the internet is that it's difficult to discern whether or not they are genuine."
