    Getting back into FG

    Hello All,

After a considerable hiatus, I'm looking at using FG to supplement my at table gaming. It looks like there has been a lot of work (wow!) and I was wondering where I should start? I've pretty much forgotten everything I learned before, so I'll be hitting the massive amount of tutorials!

I will be running a 4e adventure, but there may be some Savage Worlds here and there. So, what extensions are out there that I should be looking at? I do have the SW ruleset.

Also, is the 4e documentation updated to the most recent version? I saw what I believe was a character upload feature in the 4e ruleset. If not, could there be some indicator of what the last version the document has been uploaded through? That would be helpful :-)

    Thanks!

    Todd

Welcome back ! Do make sure you login to the FG updater and update everything ! SW just had it's 3.3 "Savage Worlds Deluxe" release, so lots of new content there.

There is also a very good SW features improvements extension managed by Ikael - https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forum...ad.php?t=17805

I don't use it (as I'm developing / bug fixing the main code all the time) but I hear lots of happy users, and I'm certainly keen to pull most "default" features into the main code was I go too.
Former SW ruleset / Deadlands extension author. Now I just wanna play a few games. And maybe hack. A little.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind!

Regarding the 4e Parser, which one should I use? Tenian's or EugeneZ's? I'm working my way from the bottom up, parsing all of them. This would be a good test for whomever wants it! I see Valeros has one as well, but it seems limited to items only.

Looks like something has changed for the Modules. I can't seem to get any of mine to load. Can someone point me in the right direction to fix them? I would like to get my DDM Icons back up and running.

Are there any interesting Extensions or new Rulesets? Any luck on the Card Deck or Hero System? I haven't checked the Pathfinder forums yet...

    Thanks for the help!

    Todd

Welcome back. For 4E you should use EugeneZ's which is Tenian's with EugeneZ's last exe copied over Tenian's installation. You can find it here: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forum...ad.php?t=14951
However magic items don't work and you should set the parser not to scrape them or it will usually crash. If it doesn't crash, then it will scrape the mundane items, but you can get them with Valeros' parser so its not usually worth trying. Tenian's parser is now completely unsupported.

Fortunately, Valeros has picked up the parser challenge and created a 4E Item parser which you can get here: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forum...ad.php?t=17485
Veleros' parser will also parse Backgrounds, Deities, Diseases, Rituals and Terrain.

The problems with items really are related to WotC's poor server response, it routinely times out on selections less than the whole database (apparently indexing the database by subsections or books is a foreign concept to them). This means that even with Valeros parser you may time out, but I've always managed to get it too work by book eventually.

I did a poor resolution video tutorial (I really need to resize it up from the default You Tube size) on how to combine put the data from Valero's parser into Tenian's modules here so you can combine the scrapes. It's here: https://youtu.be/eesd7csoXjc

Valeros did a number of scrapers you might find useful for tokens and dungeon tiles: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forum...earchid=507608

On the token modules not showing, it probably is the root version is too low. Try changing it to 2.9.

You might want to check out the SW adventure deck extension. Its a card deck that's flipable and dragable into chat. It doesn't have "hands" that survive a deck reshuffle or a discard pile you can pick up from but I did put together a TORG deck using it.
