adding mod files for Mac users

I have a couple of new players using Macs that are trying to install some mod files. I am curious how to explain to them how to add these mod files. they are using Winebottler.

I'm not a fluent Mac user, but I'll try my best to explain it along with Winebottler.

Inside the users Finder window (the Mac OSX equivalent to Windows Explorer), you need to have hidden folders set to visible.

Browse through the following folder structure:
    Macintosh HD>Users>dougdavison>.wine>drive_c>users>dougdavis on>Application Data>Fantasy Grounds II>modules

See the attachment. You can basically put them in whatever appropriate folder you want. For rulesets that are PAK files or anything needing to go under the Program Files folders, you can navigate to there the same basic way. Just go to the Program Files folder after "drive_c" instead of to the users folder.

To show hidden files and folders on a Mac, I just googled and followed the instructions. I'm not sure if this is the one I used or not when I first did that, but it looks like what I remember doing.

you can also tell them to do:

    Shift+Command+G
and then type in the path like this:

    /Users/dougdavison/.wine

Use their username instead of mine, obviously and then browse starting at "drive_c" just like you would from a Windows machine.

I worked with the players using this and we were able to navigate and find the modules folder. We inserted the .mod file in there but upon restarting of Fantasy Grounds when we open the module up it is showing the web icon for me pushing it out to them. I verifed that the file is still there in modules folder. I tried both the green checkmark and thunderbolt icons to no avail. When checking the library with the thunderbolt there is nothing listed as there should be. This file works for all the players who run on PCs.

Can you email a copy of the mod you are using to [email protected] and I'll try it out on my Mac to see if there is another approach you'll need to use?

Hoping to get with the guys again this weekend about these files..I noticed one of my players when downloading the mod file I sent was downloaded as a .zip file and just had to change the extension to .mod. I am going to make sure this didn't happen with the Mac users. If that doesn't happen to be the issue then I will send you the file to look at.

Finally got the files added. Having version 2.9 helped as well to locate the files as it shows you the structure of where the files are installed at. Also I sent the files to the Mac users as a rar file and they in turn changed the extension to mod and bingo. Thanks for all the help on getting them up and running
