AD&D 1st Edition Game (OSRIC Ruleset) - Any Interest?
Hey FG gamers,
I have this idea to run a series of AD&D 1st edition classic adventures - mainly for nostalgia's sake, but also because I think it will be interesting to revisit this style of play. As a player, you could join for just one adventure (a few weeks) or as an ongoing campaign... sort of an open table format, I suppose. The games would most likely run on Wednesday or Thursday nights around 9 pm ET (GMT -5).
No. of players: 3 minimum
Starting level: 1
Source material: OSRIC or AD&D 1st edition PHB, Unearthed Arcana optional
Ruleset: OSRIC
OSRIC is a solid resource if you need a refresher course. Many of the more confusing rules have been clarified. A few house rules would be in effect, but only in the interest of streamlining gameplay (weapon speed, I'm looking at you...)
Now... what modules would we run? I have a number of classic modules and purchased a few others in pdf form before WotC shut that down. A few possibilities:
1. Against the Cult of the Reptile God (N1)
2. The Village of Hommlet (T1)*
3. The Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh (U1)
4. The Keep on the Borderlands (B2)**
5. The Lost City (B4)**
Send me a PM or reply to this thread if you are interested. I would probably not have anything ready until early September, so keep that in mind...
Cheers!
Z
* Not necessarily the entire Temple of Elemental Evil (T1-4) series
** Written for Basic D&D (i.e. elf is a class not a race, etc.), but easily adapted to AD&DLast edited by leozelig; August 1st, 2011 at 05:27.

I used to play AD&D 2nd E, how different is that from 1st ed? This is something I might be interested in!

I linked the OSRIC rules under source material above if you want to take a quick look. My impression without having played much 2e is that they are closely related.

I would like to jump in from time to time. Thursdays are a more difficult night for me during the week. But there should be some nights free.
Thanks,

Wednesday is almost always free for me. And if we can wrap up by 11:00 Central time, each time. I should be able to attend nearly every Wednesday if not all of them.
Thanks,
Tis

Casimir,
How late does your COC game run each Mon?
My friend and I love Cthuhlu, but 10:30 to 11:00 gets to be really late for me if we finish that late.
My friend can play later so if I can't he might be up to playing.
Take care,
Tis

I have to transfer FGII to my "new" computer, but once I figure out how to do that I'd be more than happy to play either night.

I think we should try to figure ou a day that works for everyone. I could start a little earlier (8:30 pm ET) if necessary, too.
Wednesdays or Thursdays are best for me. Sundays are out because I run another group that usually runs late, so Monday is not great either. I could do Tuesdays as well.
There is definitely enough interest. I was leaning towards Against the Cult of th Reptile God, The Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh, or The Village of Hommlet (as printed in T1-4), but let me know if you have one you want to play.
