4e resistance question
Is there any way for a pc who has an ability such as fire resistance for being a tiefling to somehow have that automatically subtract the amount resisted from the damage he takes? This is possible for monsters but I don't see how it would work for the players. Thanks.

Damage resistance is being added in the next version of the 4E ruleset that is currently in testing. Previous versions did not support damage resistance.
To add damage resistance in v2 of the ruleset, you would add an effect to the tiefling in the combat tracker that reads "RESIST: <#> fire" where <#> equals the amount of resistance. Tiefling resistance is a special case where you will need to manually update the effect as they level, since they are the only creature in PHB or MM that has resistance that scales by level.
