Breaking and smashing things, why only STR?
So in building one of my encounters I was thinking of the monsters tactics and thought I would have him run behind some crates for cover if he gets in trouble. I thought the Mage in our group would then probably want to target these crates to remove the cover instead of getting in close range with such a dangerous creature. So I broke open the book wondering how much damage he would have to dish out with magic missile before the creates shattered and were no longer cover. But the 4E players handbook only gives DC numbers for STR checks for breaking things Are these crates immune to magic or what?
Does anyone know of any house rules for such a thing?

Look in the 4E DMG, page 65 - Damaging Objects section.

That helps, but the rules are a bit lacking. At least I know they are okay with breaking things using other methods than Strength checks. Thanks.
