Rangers of Shadow Deep - Free Tabletop Conversion

2/22/20 UPDATE: I updated the base module (1st dropbox link below) to add a Survivor as an NPC and I updated the "Mission" module (4th dropbox link below) to include Scenario 2 along with Scenario 1. I'll release the second Mission, Scenarios 1-3 as I have time.

1/27/20 UPDATE: I updated this so that it now uses base MoreCore only. That way it will stay current with whatever version of MoreCore you use. With Damned and Mattekure's help I created a small extension to replace the morecore logo with the ROSD logo.

Good morning, all! So, I've been working on a conversion of the tabletop adventure game Rangers of Shadow Deep (“RoSD”) into Fantasy Grounds. I can still clean it up a bit but work is crazy and I wanted to get this out to all of you to start playing and try to break it!

Special thanks to Joseph A. McCullough, the creator of RoSD for agreeing to let me release the first two Missions for free on Fantasy Grounds.

So, let's dive in. You will need all of the following to play RoSD:

RoSD.mod file (Base Rules, reference material, rolls, npc’s, pregens)
RoSD.mod mission file (Map and reference info for Mission 1, Scenario 1 and Mission 2, Scenario 2)
RoSD Extension (Background theme using GM Wintermute’s extension)
RoSD Logo Extension (Replace the MoreCore logo with RoSD)
Basic Card Deck Table extension (for tables that act like a card deck)
MUSE.ext (Celestian extension for CoreRPG which allows for you to change the map settings. I used it to change the 5ft std to inches for RoSD)

The module link it post #1 above was updated on 1/25/20 with a new module version to correct the stats of some of the companions. If you downloaded the module before that, please re-download to get the latest version.

Should this work with the free demo version of FG? I've downloaded the modules and extensions, and put them in the proper folders, but don't get the option to load the modules. Which base ruleset should I be loading?

This is now based on MoreCore, so you will have to download that community ruleset and then start a campaign using that ruleset and select this extension.

Note that with a demo license you will not be able to save any changes you make to your campaign.

Awesome! So glad to hear! Now that I know that someone is using this module, I'll get to work as soon as I can on Scenario 2.... Stay tuned. Shouldn't take too long, just need to mainly build the map!

Hi Gwydion, just downloaded mission 2 now to give it a shot. Not a big deal, but which trees did you intend to be the nest trees in the scenario map? I can't find any permutation of four trees that meet the set up criteria of all within 6" of one table edge and at least 6" from one another.

Aha, I see them now. No need to circle them. The problem is that they are more or less in the four corners of the map. My understanding of the set up is that they must all be within 6" of one table edge, so more or less in a 6" channel along one of the four sides. I don't know whether it affects the play of the mission or not...probably not. I'll give it a go and see.

Hmm... Let me know if you think I misinterpreted. I read that as I just needed to keep them within 6" of an edge.

I must be doing something completely wrong. None of the modules show after something like 7 or 8 attempts at installing mods and ext files.

Also, Did you load up MoreCore? You must download MoreCore and start a new campaign using MoreCore (not CoreRPG) for it to show up. I need to check and make sure there are no issues with the latest version of MoreCore as I think I am one version behind right now. PM me in discord if you still have issues and I'll see if I can get you sorted. Sorry its been so challenging!

Just found this! Amazing work! Thank you so much :)

I had a question on the look of the theme in FGU. I really like the way your setup looks in your youtube video but the base theme when I load the game looks much different. Do you have some other theme loaded in your video?

Welcome to the forum DMAJ! So glad you like it! Love to hear when people are using some of the things I've put together. In the first post on this thread you should see links to the ROSD extension and I believe that extension if you load it and activate it should have that background you see in my video. If not, let me know.

It looks like the background theme is the same but I think some of the changes you see are just updates to morecore.

Hmmm.. I just checked them all and downloaded them just fine. Not sure why you were having an issue. You can't preview them but perhaps try again?

It let me get them today - wouldn't allow a preview, but I wasn't expecting one - no idea why I got that "Unsupported" error

Apologies for the necro thread but I took a peek at this over the weekend and although I might over time need to clean it up a bit, I think I can port this over almost as is and put on the Forge for free. Any interest for anyone out there? Only want to do it if folks will use it. Couple videos on how I created this from several years ago.

You might want to wait until 4.5.0 comes out. I would hate for you to spend time updating this and then have it broken in just a few weeks with core updates.

FYI, I have moved this to the forge so I have deleted the mod file links. I've left up the extensions just in case you missed them in the forge description.
